Rorge

RallyIT!
26th February 2003, 05:20 AM
A cruise over Mt Nebo then Mt Glorious and then where ever sounds awesome. There is nice drive over Glorious, and then up past Summerset Dam and then up the back way to Malaney/Montville and then cruise back down the highway to brisbane. This way it would end up on the sunshine coast which will be handy for them. Just not so good for the Gold Coast people.:? Its an idea...what do people think?

And I am putting my vote in for a Sunday.:D

As for Rally Canberra, I have been down to the last 2 and a very good time was had both times. I dont know if I am going this year due to the bush fires down there. At this stage I think my friends and i are going on the proviso that the mineshaft stage is running. (I wont be taking the RS tho..... probably my mates Forester GT)

Joel|RSLC|
26th February 2003, 10:46 PM
I was thinking maybe heading back towards caboolture after the somerset dam purely for any gold coast people wanting to come that way its only 40 mins north of brissie, but hey id love to keep going up towards montville! there is an awesome place to park where you can get all the rs's in with an excellent backdrop with the Glasshouse Mountains! here are a couple of pics from another cruise i went on, just keep scrolling down until you see the white rs in the best spot :D 8) http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/viewjournal.php?getevent=yes&entryID=302

I have decided on Sunday the 30th of March for the cruise, so tell as many people with rs's as possible! other cars are welcome , however it is still primarilily a RS Cruise! Meet at the Aspley Hypermarket at 10am leave there prolly 10.45 get to NA Liberty's farm just in time for lunch and then continue on from there out to somerset and through to the glasshouse (people from the Gold coast have the option to head back down the highway via Caboolture) stop for some piccies then head home. what do you guys think?

Other details, blah blah, blah

IF IT IS RAINING THE CRUISE OVER THE MOUNTAIN WILL BE CALLED OFF... The roads we are travelling are FAR FAR too dangerous in the wet. Even a drizzle will make things unsafe. ANything other than completely dry weather and it will be called off. However any other suggestions in the event of the cruise being called off will be discussed at the Hypermarket car park

Please be at the aspley HYPERMARKET CARPARK by 10:30am and be fueled up

We WILL be leaving at 11:00am on the dot. If you get there late you're gunna miss out

Cruise should only take a few hours long (4-5 max.)

Rules (PLEASE FOLLOW THESE)

We will have a certain number of cars with UHF CB Radios. Please Bring a CB Radio (handheld/in-car) if you have one.
Some places that we stop may not have enough room for a lot of cars. With a group of about 30 cars we should be OK. any more than this and things start looking scary. Please try and get 2 or 3 people per car if at all possible so that we can minimise the total number of cars in the convoy.

Hoons and idiots are not welcome on this cruise. There will possibly be families and children in the convoys. Any disturbances and you will be asked to leave. Speeding / Dangerous driving and OVERTAKING will not be tolerated. THe rules sound harsh but it is for the safety of the convoy. Please act sensibly, it is NOT a street race.

OK, BBQ / Picnic lunch info

We will be stopping at NA Liberties Farm situated atop Mount Glorious opposite the tea house.

We will NOT be providing lunch, please bring enough BBQ stuff to feed your group. Sausages / Bread / Onions / Steaks / Sauce / Butter etc etc etc. Alternatively, bring a Packed Picnic lunch if this idea does not appeal to you...

Anyone caught being a general dickhead will be warned and never welcomes further cruises. Please behave, I can't stress enough the importance of road safety on a trip such as this.

RULES FOR THIS RUN - COURTESY OF A CAR CLUB

quote:"CAR CLUB OF QUEENSLAND
RULES FOR SOCIAL DRIVES IN CONVOY

Preliminary

1. Car Clubs in Australia are bound to promote and adhere to safe driving on public roads.

2. On any social drive, there will be varying degrees of driver competence and it is imperative that no driver should ever feel threatened by the speed of the convoy. The leader must adjust convoy speeds accordingly.

3. Social drives are not an excuse for a road race and there should be time to observe the scenery. Attendees who would like to drive at higher speeds always have the opportunity to drive the route themselves at a later date.

4. It has been proven that, if these rules are not adhered to, some members will not continue to attend club activities and some potential members will not join the club.

5. The convoy leader should ensure that each car has a copy of the run route or instructions for the drive.

General Rules of Convoy Driving

1. Keep the car behind you in sight at all times. If this basic rule is followed, nobody should get lost and the speed of the convoy will be self-regulated.

2. Keep a 2 - 3 second safety margin between all cars - a multiple pile-up of cars is not a pretty sight. As a general rule-of-thumb, no overtaking should occur in convoy driving.

3. Indicate intentions early - ie. At least 30 metres before changing lane or direction.

4. If driving along suburban roads, it is likely that cars towards the end of the convoy will get 'left behind' at traffic signals. It is important that lead cars reduce speed or pull over to reform the convoy at the first 'safe' area after the lights in question. If this does not happen, drivers may break traffic rules in order to catch up with the main group. This is not acceptable.

5. When two or more traffic lanes are available at traffic lights, cars should use all lanes to get through the lights and then reform into original convoy order.

6. If the convoy holds up the general public, drivers should pull over and allow the public to pass safely. Under no circumstances should the general public be intimidated by our driving.

7. If a convoy exceeds eight cars, the leader should, before the start, break the convoy into 'min' convoys. If this occurs, the following alternatives should be applied:

Wizzfizz,
You've just joined & your 3 posts have been nothing but a cry & whinge.
So what if he is using a previous cruise route & info sheet? Do you want royalties?! Where any cruise goes comes a distant second to getting together with people who share the same passions as you.
Also I think u have made a fool of yourself-your first post was not deleted,it was on another thread!(there are 2 threads with the cruise info on it)Your first post is in "QLD RS cruise 30th march" in 'upcoming official events' section.
One of the best things about this forum is that there is no bitching going on.We try to help each other & have a laugh. So please take some time to read as many threads as possible and get a feeling for what we are all about. Then when you have something positive/constructive to say, jump on in!

Are the RS brothers from Brisbane on here?? Tom and Sam??

I saw Sam's car when i was dropping mine off at John French this morning. Still looks as clean as ever! :D

You guys may have seen these two around. Tom is the younger brother with curlyish hair and a white RS. And Sam is the more responsible older brother with the less modified (but immaculate) bergundy RS.

They live around the Indro/Taringa area...

wizzfizz, I'm terribly sorry if I have wrecked any plans for the Boostcruising cruise (by the way I think I became a member there long before you did, however thats irrelevant) BUT my plans of where to go and when were definately original (check past posts dates), and If for that reason you should choose not to come - so be it, its a free world, by the way I believe the person that wrote the original rules of a convoy was not the person I copied and modified them off. and for some reasons, some people I know of are RS fans without RS's are not coming due to personality clashes with some of the people coming. Either way I'm looking forward to the day.

Hey Tomo! I know other people can put up with the Noisy tapets, but I can't stand them! I have had my car for 2 1/2 years, and the tapets have been noisy for most of that time.

So I'm finally replacing it - It will be fixed in 2 days!!

I will be keeping the current Manifold, Turbo & ECU (which is Unichipped), and throwing it all onto a '96 EJ20TT. I'm not expecting any more power, but it better be as fast as it used to be!

See you on Sunday!

Hi Guys,

The plan is to meet at the Aspley Hypermarket, which is directly across the road from Aspley McDonalds. They are so close together, that we're sure to see the MRT guys there.

The Hypermarket is on the corner of Albany Creek Road, and Gayford Street, Aspley. I assume we will meet on the McDonalds side of the carpark (right on Gayford Street). It's real easy to find. If you're coming from the North of Brisbane, get onto Gympie Road until you meet up with Albany Creek Road, and turn right into it. You will see the Hypermarket on your right.

If your coming from the South of Brisbane, Get onto Lutwyche Road (which leads into Gympie Road) then Turn left into Albany Creek Road just after the BP - You'll see the Hypermarket on your right.

See you there.
