Im in Canada, currently work in construction here. On my 2nd marriage (yet only 32...) and i have had my Legacy for 2 years. I bought it from a dealer here and promptly ripped everything out, caged it, tossed on race suspension and went ralling. In Sept 2001, I converted the car from a US spec 2.2 turbo to a EJ20T with the RS-RA transmission in it. Complete with stock EJ20t ECU, harness etc.

Hi,

My name is Vic, i'm 27. I bought my RS in Nov 2001 from Adam (exec5ltrvl) after he spent his hard earn $$$ modifying it, since then i've done 50000km in it and modified it some more. Mods include filter, exhaust, VF28, Link ECU, STi close ratio box, Whiteline suspension kit and 17in wheels.

My previous ride was a turbocharged Corona wagon capable of sub 13 sec 1/4 mile times with a little over 160kw@wheels, my current project is a 90 mdl Corolla which will be getting a supercharged 1.6L (4AGZE) and set up for some club racing.

I nearly bought my old Corolla back a few months ago with similar visions to make it a little racer - but I wanted to investigate the possibility of a GT4 4WD drivetrain with 3S-GTE! :D

There has to be some older members as all the RS's i see on the road are driven by wives or old grumpy men that dont like my exhaust

whitey
31st January 2003, 10:12 PM
I see older fullas and ladies driving RS's all the time. Most of there cars are mint as and stock standard just the kind good for modifying. I hear what you are saying about the exhaust I have a 2 1/2' from a dump pipe to one straight through muffler which is loud as. Some times when I am sitting at the lights I get evil looks form rich punks in BMW's etc which annoys me so

Its funny though it sound really horrible when the cars cold with a really harsh twang but when the car is warm it gets quieter and lower a much more aurally pleasing note.

I have(even though the missus drives it more than me) a `92 RS wagon with wrx 16" rims, auto with some intake mods otherwise standard, dark maroon colour, which we have had for about 18 months now,and it`s good to find a dedicated club with a good bunch of folks, but I have noticed lots more RS`s about and will try and spread the word.
You may have noticed,I ramble a lot, that`s what happens over 40.

Whoops didn't notice this here....ok my name's Marcus, 20 yo, live in the Geelong area, in my 3rd year of a B.Commerce at uni (majors in Accounting, Finance and Economics), work at a surf shop....that's about it I think!

Bought my RS about 3 weeks ago from a family in Melbourne who were the 2nd owners - it's totally stock, even had venitian blinds and a nudge bar (which were promptly removed!). Couldn't believe one came up as soon as I sold my car - really wanted a wagon so I could put my surfboards and dog and other miscellaneous crap in it. It's done 198,000 kays so far and hopefully many more to come. Will probably leave it standard for a while till the bank account looks a bit healthier, but even then I think I'll only do the exhaust and intake as I tend to do a lot of kays and need the thing to be reliable. Oh, and some new wheels...

Feel like I've gone from Economy Class in my old 93 Lancer GL to Business Class in my (just sold) 92 TX5 4WS to First Class in finally, what I've REALLY been wanting all these years, the RS :D Have thought to myself many times in the past couple of weeks whilst behind the wheel "&@#% I'm glad I bought this thing" hehehe.

Anyway I think that's enough for now

Howdy Boyz and Gals !

I'm Michael (known as "Miki"), 35, I work as a Manager on the "Business Unit" IT-dept of an airline in Finland. Married, with two lovely kids and two small dogs as well (= a LOT of spare time.... :? )

We currently have 2 Subarus in our family, I'm drivin' a MY96 Impreza Wagon, and my wife's drivin' around in a MY93 Legacy 200 (=RS) STW. We used to have a 2.0 GL Impreza Wagon, but we just had to get some more space to get the whole family on the road, so it was pretty obvious that we had to get ourselves a Turbo Legacy Wagon :D

I've had 2 RS's before this one, I'm pretty sure that if you are so lucky to own one of these cars, you definitely want more of the same... it's just a problem up here that we don't have that many of them, so they are pretty hard to come by.

As I'm the chairman of the Finnish Subaru Club ( www.subaruclubfinland.net ) I had to set a good example and persuaded my Mom and Dad to get themselves a REAL car as well. Therefore they recently traded their Volvo for a MY99 Forester S-turbo (=GT) :D

Hi all,

Been lurking here for a while so thought i better get off my arse and register. My names Jeremy, 21 from the hills district in sydney. I like movies, long walks on the beach.... <whoops wrong forum>

I'm a bit of a phony though as i don't currently own an RS, i've always been into 4wding and that side of the modifying scene, but i'm gonna take a break from that and see how i fare in the performance world.

Just gotta sell my current ride, it's been my project for the last year or so and now that it's done it's for sale. Sadly i think it's gonna take a while to sell though but as soon as it does i'll post up with the RS pics !! :D

Cheers, Jeremy

Thanks for the welcome dude. :D

Well it's a 91 hilux surf, 2.4 turbo diesel, was ifs and all that crap. Now has a solid axle swap, coilovers in front, 3 link control arms front and rear, 80 series springs in rear with 12" inches of shock travel all round, 35x12.5" tyres on 15x8 rims, custom aluminium fuel tank, 6 point roll cage, swapped diff gear ratios, about 3 foot of exhaust with no mufflers of resonators...sounds awesome !! Heaps and heaps of other little things, i basically set out to have the best surf in australia..... i think with better tyres and locked diffs f/r i would have been there  Everything you see on it i built except the front suspension and fuel tank..... I paid to get the front done but wished i hadn't as i could have done it cheaper and better myself, but you learn from your mistakes right !!

Anyways, hope you like the pics :D :D :D Jeremy

Hey

I'm Chris, 24 from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Bought my 93 RS Wagon about 4 weeks ago. First, newish type car I have ever owned and loving it. I am an industrial designer working out in Mount Waverley. Been playing with cars ever since I got my licence back on my 18th birthday.

My wagon is pretty much stock. Its been lowered, has 16" late model Liberty wheels, WRX seats and I have just pulled the snorkus off. Have a large list of things I wish to do to it, such as make it handle and go/stop fast which will happen in time.

Hello everyone,

I Got my 93 RS Wagon from Sydney as nobody would sell me theirs in old Adelaide town. One owner 129k mid-blue wagon, completly stock. came with everything intact and in mint condition. Even got the original Brochure!! There was a few things that needed attending to but they are all fixed now. No mods planned, but have been surprised by the VOS chip Dyno graphs.

The Lady-Liberty is my everyday driver and I also have a 90' model Porsche 944S2. 3.0l 4cylinder.

I am 31 and live in Adelaide, spent 3 years to find my wagon and I love it!!!!

Have fun with your Boxers on full song.

Don't be put off by the Porsche thing, It was cheaper than a new Commodore!!! But its one helluva a car. But has a thick layer of dust on it now since Lady-Liberty rolled in.

hey everyone,

my turn 8) I'm a bit late, but i only just noticed this thread...

I'm 18, living in brisbane QLD. At the moment i just work casually at Coles supermarkets - in grocery, not the registers :P

About 3 months ago i finally found my first car! A VERY good condition 1992 GEN1 series2 Liberty GX AWD auto. It had only 143,000kms and had a lady driver for most of its life. Picked up the car for a nice price of $8,000 and i have been extremely happy since :D

My goal for the time being is to try and find a nice 1992-1994 manual Rallye AWD liberty. As the auto was great for a first car, but i got my manual licence for a reason 8) and i also want permanant AWD not ECU controlled, hehe.

My dream is to get an RS liberty - i feel that the GEN1 Series2 liberty body's are so sexy, i'd probably take an RS over an impreza WRX. unless the impreza was MY 1997 onwards  I would plan on getting an RS sooner than later, but i will have to wait until im 25 just to get insurance on it :( and i WILL want full comprehensive on an RS... i even have full compo on my GX

Anyway, i think this post is long enough for the moment. Hopefully i will get to talk to you all and get to know you through the forum. The cruises would be fairly difficult for me to attend considering im in QLD and the majority of you guys/girls are down south in SA and NSW. I can still try though 8)

Cheers

Hey everyone, I'm a new member

Just got a beautifull 92 RS liberty

She's a white sedan, with 173,000 km's and a full service history with subaru. At the moment she is stock but I will be doing the snorkalectomy soon.

I am so glad to have after all the months of looking. I test drove 5 other RS's and a couple of galant vr4's but most were seriously overpriced or didn't have the wrx head conversion done.

I bought it off a guy in his 40's for 11,500 dollars. He said he had put it in the trading post months ago and had lots of calls but only a few kids had actually had a look.

Unfortunately no sunroof but who cares when it costs 11,500 dollars and has less then 200k's

I drive a white '93 RS with a 3" MRT exhaust (keen for more mods). It's just getting it's 112,500Km service today. Bought it from the second owner about 6mths ago.
I've met a few of the Adelaide blokes, but there's one guy (Billsy) I just can't seem to get rid of
He just keeps hanging around, and his car's faster than mine so I can't get away.

im 21 from tauranga / mount new zealand. no i dont fuck sheep.

About 7 Months ago i brought a 90 GT wagon in midnight blue, with 160k on clock for 4k NZD ive done all suspension my self, shocks from a 95 WRX sti RA, and cobra super low springs, running on 17' mak stings on kumho ecstas.

ive had a front pipe installed and the cat removed, ive put on a muffler from a maza, gives out a mint sound, and had a chip instaled, dont ask me what it is, it was a clone brought from a parts guys at my stealership. given me a mean increase in low mid and high. im stoked with it. 28-30 tints all round. WRX bonnet scoop. K&N panel filter installed, racepro BOV, and various other little custom things.

Lovin this wagon, its heaps of fun to drive and work on. if u from nz, gimme a PM on msn. muz_is@hotmail.com

Howdy, I'm Paul and possibly one of the older/oldest farts I've found on the forum - 44 - but definately don't act my age. And no, I don't own or need a cloth cap! One advantage is I have the means to do stuff on a whim (like buy a set of rims for race rubber) that you younger guys might struggle with. I'm a vet and run a couple of practices in Perth.

Anyway, the proud owner of (possibly) the fastest wagon in the west - a nice white 93 RS wagon manual that I picked up as a stocker nearly a year ago (took 6 months of searching to find it) with 80,000K's - now on just over 100K's on the clock. Has whiteline handling pack/adjustable Konis, VF22, Autronic ECU and CDI ignition, HD clutch, WRX 4 pot front calipers and DBA series 5000 rotors - and of course a nice 3" dump/exhaust - and bloody loud! Otherwise stock apart from 17's.

Has recently been called into race duties as my usual race car (a 200SX) awaits a new motor. So far just motorkhanas and occassional track excursions - eg Wanneroo. Goes well through corners - needs more horses to compete against the usual gaggle of WRX's etc but just happy to be out there. Needless to say I don't have problems getting to emergencies quickly! Just need to convince the cops that it's OK.

Hey Guys, new to the board, nice btw!
Although I dont own an RS anymore as my current ride is an R32 GTR, I did own one up till last year.
Many of you would know it, it was highly modified and different a bit of an experiment puerly for my own amumsment, many did not like it but I rcon it came out ok for what it was.
It was Yellow with a modified C-west WRX Kit and GT wing, 17" speedy ATIX-5 CHrome wheels, etc.

Anyway good job with the site boys!

Howdy,

Well after scoping this forum for a long time (since the Yahoo days) I decided I should finally register and post.

I pilot (well the missus does mostly) a stock, '92 Aus delivered RS wagon (charcoal of course). The two kiddie seats in the back mean it will stay stock for another couple of years yet.

Answers to the normal questions: owned the RS for 3 years, (sold a restored, worked 1600 to buy it), I'm a public servant (don't hold that against me), too close to 40, live in the Blackburn area (surprised I haven't been spotted yet) and am involved in rallying (although a lot less these days with kids on board).

Hello all, I'm new on this board although I'm not in Australia. I am currently living between Puerto Rico and NYC, spending time in both places before permanently moving to the Carribean. I share the same love for the Liberty RS as most of you but haven't found a site in the USA with any real enthusiasm for this forgotten beauty. I usually feel that most Subaru owners around these parts here don't know of any turbo models prior to the current WRX and Legacy models. In most cases they only care to get our powerplant and swap it into a GC/GF/GM body. I hope to find some good info here in regards to properly modifying and maintaning my Turbo Legover.

Also, to those that have other interest, I'm a big fan of boxer and rotary engines in general, not just Subies. I plan to swap my spare EJ22T engine into an early classic Beetle/Bug just for fun. When I go to P.R. I also take part in our favorite family pasttime of racing with a rotary powered '88 Suzuki Jimny/Sierra (US Samurai). It's a blast!

Hey,
found this site a few days ago and thought I'd introduce myself.
Names Matt (duh!!)
Picked up my 2000 Legacy B4 RSK about 3 months ago after selling my beloved R31 Skyline (2lt twincam turbo conversion, 141rwkw).
Married with 3 kids which doesn't leave a lot left over for mods.
I live in the Eastern 'burbs of Melbourne.
We used to own a 92 Liberty GX wagon, great car, just gutless. We have sort of moved to the dark side owning both Fords and Holdens as well. My wife currently drives a Ford Territory, unfortunately the B4 would struggle with my 1500kg ski boat.

Yeah I've been doing a bit of research about this atm and the most of the solutions involve new engine management, reflash or a plug in $1500 min.

Hi all.

Mal here but just call me Horace. Comes from Horace the not so handy Rumpole. So who wants to paint the house and hammer nails when there is better fun to be had!!

Live in Perth SOR and TotalVet (Paul) you are NOT the oldest. Just trumped you by 4 !!! Work as a Structural Designer in the offshore Oil & Gas industry. You guys keep driving it keeps me in a job !!

Been searching for nigh on 2 years for a 93 RS Wagon BUT totally original and one owner. Found it 3 weeks ago at the right price. A good scrub, blown out the cobwebs and its like new and oh so comfortable and just quick enough ......just !!

This makes Subaru No 9 to fill our garage. My wife has a 2001 RX Sedan. That was No 8. She has also had a couple of MG's and 2 XY GTHO's. Very Nice!! But Subaru .....we just Love 'em.

Have raced, rallied driven fast, 4WD'd and see no need to slow down. I want a turbo boxer gopher when i'm 80!! :D :D :D :D

So look out for 2 speedy wagons.....TotalVet off to emergencies and me off to any place fast.

Look forward to seeing you guys on a run sometime. :D :D

Hey everyone! I've been on these boards for just about a year now, previously was on here with a liberty GX awd :P Now i'm back and have moved to a leone RX turbo :D Will post in the members ride about it (that section is still open isnt it?) Anyway, i picked it up about a fortnight ago from a subaru mechanic of 30 years who has nicely looked after this car, the mechanical side :D and some nice modifications 8) Mainly a 3" mandrel system the whole way, microtech computer, soon to be re-fitted intercooler. and a WRX scoop  i love it!!

Anyway, I'm from westlake in brisbane QLD, I've met a couple of you already on a willowbank test and tune - Tomo, hybrid RX (i think), george-NAlib, and a few others i cant remember :) I'll be up for joining on some of the cruises if you guys think a leone RX is good enough for ya 8)

Hey Guys,
I've been checking out this site for about... oh 2 hours now, and I can't believe through all my web surfing I haven't found you guys earlier! Lived in Adelaide all my life and became Suburu crazy after buying an 02 Outback for the family. Going through a mid-life crisis (turning 40 next year) with a need for a car with a bit of go. In the process of selling my 93 Liberty GX at the moment in search of a Turbo version. Had plenty of fast bikes (motorbikes) but no fast cars. Used to be into Aussie made sedans with big dumb motors, wised up since then. Great site, heaps of info, will spend the next few weeks looking through every posting.
BTW, found an RS with 270,000 on the clock, seems to be well looked after but is that too many k's, should it be a worry. Onya.
PS - My name is Chris, everyone calls me Hambone tho.

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd better get on here and introduce myself.
My name's Jeff. I'm 30 and live on the Gold Coast. I've just bought myself a 1990 Liberty GX AWD wagon which seems to be goin pretty good so far. I wanted an RS turbo wagon but finances don't allow it at this time.

I'm hoping to learn heaps about these cool cars and meet people on this forum along the way.

Catch ya's... I'm gonna go work out how to set the clock in the radio :P
If anyone know's how, please let me know. :D

Thanks for the welcome and advice watto mate. Will try it out.

I'm also hoping to find an owners manual asap so I can work out how to set things like the clock etc as the car didn't come with one. The old bloke who owned the car previously lost it somewhere along the line.

Thanks.

I currently drive a jacked up, turbo'd, 1990 subaru L series wagon, which is on the market whilst I search for a nice RS or a clean GX to convert with '94 WRX half cut (no bloody noisey tappets and a TD05).
a great site with a wealth of info and some bloody good people sharing it.

98 Liberty GX - Silver Anniversary Ed. Manual, none of the opt. extras (ABS, airbag etc.) but being that it's a ltd. ed., it's got enough extra shit anyway. Except that the drink holder doesn't come out :(

Picked it up today from a dealership for $15.9k, and am already thinking about what mods to do to it :)

Here's what I have planned:
Cold air intake (obv.)
Lowered
Possibly some early WRX rims (silver)
Sound system from my '81 Celica (poor thing... had her for 6 years, paid 2 grand and now she's relegated to whoever'll take it. Served me well :()

I live in Geelong, and will be driving it every chance I get. So if you see a dead-stock Libby hooning around, s'me :D

Hey to all-

My Name is Dane, I work as a real estate agent in Castle Hill NSW.
Hard to get around with clients when i have the gurgle of a boxer and 3'' exhaust so i drive a renault Megane ( the big but) as my daily driver.

My car has fairly minimal mods- intake/exhaust/vos chip, but thats only for now. We all become content with the push back in the seat torque of a turbo and want more and more push back power so i have definate plans to allow this to happen.

I live around the Parramatta area and if anyone in here does aswell give me a yell and we can catch up sometime...

Cheers

Also have a nicely modded R32 GTS4 manual coupe

Cheers bosc0, the VL is more skyline than VL, runs an RB25DET with front mount, safc, larger fuel pump, skyline diff to give it much shorter ratios, plus has a few other bits. Has done 14.2@102mph on not alot of boost so far with a single spinner so slow 60fts.
Skyline is good for low 13s but goes on the dyno next thursday, hoping to see 220kw at the wheels then racing at the drag strip that weekend.

I've been on the Impreza WRX forums for a while now as i've been looking at getting a rex, but now i'm leaning more towards an RS Turbo as it will be a little bit cheaper for me still with a top quality subaru.

Hey all! :)

Cheers bosc0 for the name change! ^___^

Well my first and current car sadly isn't a Subaru, but rather a 1986 Holden Barina with a 1.3lt motor and an automatic transmission that was given to me by my mum since she got a free 1995 Holden Commodore from her brother! :D

Otherwise, my dad's car is a 1998 Subaru Outback, also automatic transmission since mum can't drive manuals. =/

We have owned the car now for around 2 years, purchasing it back in march 2003 from the local Subaru dealership that got if from a business guy who only drove the car to and from work daily.

The car is great! We try to do regular services, but often forgetting or too busy to get it in on time. Not quite as clean as I would have it if it was my car, but we do take care of it. :)

My all time favourite car is a Mazda RX-7 Series 8, but more importantly followed by a 3rd Generation Liberty B4, and then the MY99 WRX's! :D

Just finished watching the WRC in Sweden, GOOO SUBARU AND PETTER SOLBERG! ^____^

Hi Folks,
I thought i'd better introduce myself. I'm just getting back into Subies since i had to sell my 00 WRX to finance my 2nd child (damn kids!, no seriously they're great!).
Have just picked up a 92 Liberty GX AWD sedan & i'm loving it! I figure i'll keep it for a couple of years & maybe do an RS conversion or just upgrade to an RS outright. Bought my GX from Sydney for $4,000 & have spent about $1,000 on it to get it RWC, Burgandy with WRX 16's 5 spokes on it, doesn't look too bad.
Also have a forester so i do like my Subies.
Anyway that's about it, i'll put up some pics of my Lib soon.
