View Full Version : Private or Dealer RS Buying?

Hi people, i've been doing a bit of research on RS Liberty's because i'm in the market for a new car. I've been saving like mad and have been ordered by the parents to stop driving shitboxes (ie. gemini's, cordias etc) and get a decent daily driver.

I dont wanna go rolling around in a falcon or commodore or any of that crap.

Mum has had a liberty LX for years so it hasn't been hard to convince her that a liberty RS is a good compromise in terms of safety, performance and style.

So i've been looking around and havn't found an abundance of cars for sale. At the moment i'm looking for a pretty much stock item preferably under 16grand.

Is a $13,000 RS from a dealer too good to be true? i've yet to go and have a look at it but judging by what people say the general going price is i'm a bit unsure...

(but on the other hand, the dealer could have just looking in the RedBook and thought "no worries, 10-12 grand, i'll ad another grand profit and she'll sell")

i had a read through that post down below about things to look out for and i'll have a good look over the car when i take a look at it..

am i better off buying a privately owned vehicle? or as long as its got books and is generally in good condition get it at either place?

sorry about the long post, hope someone out there can lend me some advice!

cheers

Private sale will pretty much always be better price-wise... but the problem with the RS Liberty is that it's just so damn hard to find one.

Read the replies to the other thread which have advice on things to look for as well.
