Well it had to happen eventually, but i got myself a job. Its kinda the perfect job for me too. Its at Croydon Camera House. I get to play with cameras all day long and try and sell them.

I know most people either have a camera or want one, so if you live near by, or even if you dont, drop in and ill see what kind of a deal i can do. We cant compete with internet companies, as its impossible to, but we do provide customer service, discount vouchers and someone to ask about what your buying. Basically we do everything there. Except sell microwaves (dont ask).

I've only just started so dont expect me to know everything yet, but im getting there.

good word deaks.
i spent 5 hours today at work ripping into a sony cybershot digi camera that had been dropped... if you pull the lens apart and the mechanism that moves it, youll be there a while putting the hundreds of tiny bits back, and stay away from charged flash capacitors... they give you a DAMN good buzz. hehe

Haha Billsy, thats why Deans hair is like it is then
;-) me no play with electronics, ill break em more than fix em.

Havent dropped a camera yet, but i did take a shocking pic of myself with the Kodak Easy share cam (not sure if i can take a good one), but couldnt remember where i put the damn pic.

And if i got an RS, well we wont go there.

Not always, we used to zap each other with them in electronics class many, many years ago.... but then again we also used to attach them to power packs to deliberately overload them and make them explode (very loud bang!)

300d's are ghey compared to the D70

Xmetal
24th September 2004, 10:16 AM
Yes but 300D's are apparently better value for money and have more lens attachments. Deaks can you give us a price on a 300D? a large department store up here known as Domayne wants $2200 for the 'Enthusiast Pack'. :?

Karupt

Xmetal,

Do you read many camera review sites ?

300d both featurewise and image quality, doesn't compare to the d70..

I'm a poor asian. 300D's are like $1700 over here.

Deaks
24th September 2004, 11:49 AM
300D's are on special at the moment for $1599 with $200 cash back. That comes with the standard lens. But id still show you the D70. Its retail is $2199 atm, and even with the price being higher, it still makes it much better value.

We are getting the Canon 20D in this weekend i hope. Should be fun to play with. Only 3k for the body, or there abouts.

Way cheaper in HK......
Something like about AUD$1000......
Currently having a set of canon gear (3 lens + 1 Flash) with a EOS300 body (bought 5 yrs ago) and waiting to go back to HK at the beginning of next year and get the 300D......

Deaks
24th September 2004, 12:10 PM
Brian, if the 300D is that price, why dont you step up and buy something like the D70? The 300D is exactly what it was intended to be, an entry level Digi SLR. It is the cheapest by far. If you've ever used one you'll know why.

Your lens's will fit quite nicely on a 10D ;-)

hhmmm F65 ...go F55...

yeah looked at the F55 and was told that the lens is plastic/connects to plastic and will probably break over time, is only an extra $70 for the F65 so am figuring why not?

you sell them Deaks?

LIB37Y

Deaksatorio,

Whats your personal opinion of the nikon 5400 ?

MY92
24th September 2004, 12:58 PM
My friend use to have an Olympus E-1 which was wicked, but that got nicked and now she has a 10D. Which is pretty damn good for the money.

Deaks
24th September 2004, 01:09 PM
Well i dont know heaps about it yet, but i do know what i've read about it. Just the basic things such as the battery (lithium-Ion) and movie with sound, but until i have a play with it i cant comment on it too much. The lens is more of a wide angle than most compacts (which are usually 38-120ish) whereas the 5400 is a 28-116 equivilent. Having said that, my Pentax *ist-D digi SLR has an 18-50mm lens on it.

Was looking at a Panasonic Lumix with a 12X zoom yesterday, which is the equivilent of a 35-420mm zoom. With image stabilisation is great fun and still sort of small.

How much you paying for the 5400 K?
