fucking idiots, after going down shellharbour tonite and then driving to town i thought fuck me thres alot of cops about so i took it very easy, not being a dickhead, got to town, came straight back coz defects galore then i get to primbee bypass (so its call) and JAS25T was in front, they pull him in, me in and some commodore behind me. They proceed to ask me why my fog lights are on, i said because it was raining and i forgot to turn them off. He said "it hasnt rained for a good few hours" (looking at my car it had rain drops all over it) and i said, i just came back from town. That was the end of that. Breath tested me TWice with these new gay machines. He gave the chick that was walking around my car writing notes down, my licence, he said take care of the fog lights, she went away, came back with a $78 fine for fog lights and proceeded to tell me i should have been defected for the guages on the a pillar aswell. She reckons i cant have them there unless engineered BUT i can have them below steering wheel height on the opposite side (passengers crash zone anyone???) So i suppose i came away from it alright althought im pissed because there was a legitimate reason that i had my fog lights on, plus now ill be marked after they scoped everything out. Car is stayign in the garage all weekend

A-pillar guages have always been illegal - because they obscure vision. The only way you'll even get them engineered is if they are really low profile and don't obscure vision much, if at all. This is why they're allowed below steering wheel height on the other side.

The fog light thing just plain sucks. It's a stupid rule to start with IMHO, and if your car was wet, it's obviously been raining recently.

Sounds like you were just out on the wrong night. :(

Oh, and don't let the cops near your nuts, they'd try defect them too... :D

yeh i understand that a pillar gauges are illegal. the reason for it the cop said was something about in the event of an acciden they could hit my head on it. They are only the 2" auto meter gauges so they dont obscure my vision, ill leave them there until they defect me for them. It was a good thing i had the foggies on coz if i think about it, if i didnt they would have done me for wheels, guages, height, exhaust etc.

It definately was the wrong night, aparently they launched a crack down on P platers, speeding, seatbelts and "unsafe cars" last nite in conjunction witht he local council. Car will be parked in the garage all weekend coz after the other cop got his notes down, im sure they will be out to get me in the upcoming weeks.

its exactly the same here man, every BA falcon, VY commodore, rexy etc drive with their lights on with no probs, fark ive driven with mine on for a good what, 8-9months since i got the car with no probs. Just being tossers last night / this weekend. they must have left their yellow stickers at home so thought they couldnt let me get away with nothing.

It depends on their mood at the time they saw you. I've been pulled over by a copper about a year ago because the fog lights were hooked up to the parker so it's always on (Trust me, they're very good for a delivery driver)......
My friend was driving at that time and the copper was so impolite to ask for our licence and say it's gonna be a $100 fine. He got our licence, went back to his car and came back a few minutes later, tell us to turn it off and go. No fines but was a bit pissed (I don't know about the law at that time) so I sent a letter to TransportSA and I was told that fog lights might only be used when there's bad weather and spot lights=high beam.

Yeah same deal here kinda. They had a crack down for a while where it was a $70-80 on the spot fine or something, everyone turned them off for a few weeks but now it's back to normal. I got RBT'ed the other night and had mine on, the copper just made a quick comment as I left that I should turn them off. Nothing formal, no fine, nothing.

The cops who fined me $130 when I had them on in my WRX in Glenelg did seem to care.

More reason to get an STI, no fog's.

I've been done for everything from just about any defect(You pick) and yes also fined for fog lights. The cops in NSW just don't give a sh*t. I was driving with a mate, he had his foggies on and I was speeding, and he got busted!! As for the gauges, thats exactly why I mounted mine in my air vent. Can't get in trouble for that

was considering that, i did make a guage pod for below the ash tray but it was for 2 5/8" gauges and now i have the autometer 2" gauges so thinking of making a fibreglass pod that sits on the hood of the dash on the left hand side of the steering wheel.

Sorry fellas but I hate to see foglights on unless it really is foggy as fudge.

All our local barryboys (http://www.forums.barryboys.co.uk/) in their saxos & corsas drive around with them on 24-7.

That said, I sympathise with you mate for you guys having such nazi cops over there. You can drive around here in the worst shed with any mods you like and they won't do you for it. Especially over here on Scooby Island where there's no annual vehicle test for emissions etc you can do as you please.

ok guys.

now theres a reason why they call them Fog lights...
they are illegal to have on unless it is Foggy.
i know it helps when you have them on, but hey. so do high beams.
having them on when its raining has a worse effect on oncoming traffic then when its not raining. they reflect from the water on the ground.
cops dont like excuses, doesnt matter what it is.

I haven't driven with my fogs on since they advertised it in full page fashion some time back - $76 bucks and a point off your licence, not worth it.
If commo's, povvo lancers etc drive with em on let em, no need to be a sheep.

Bad luck mate, not good to give the gov any more than they already get from us.
