Just found a site that sells Garrett Turbos cheap. They are located in the U.S but ship internationally. Apparently they will sell you a T3/T4 hybrid from as little as $469(US) delivered. They are rated from 350hp. That works out to around $640AUS delivered. Could I get some feedback on what you guys think of this.

thats great if you own a single cam vl turbo...
for small, well engineered dohc engines, you cant go past the GTxxR range. ball bearing cores, latest technology housings and wheels.
for 2L a gt30r
for 2.5L a gt35R
for 3L a gt42R
you can make up your own combination if you like..
gt3540 is a good combo for a bit more flow on a 2.5L
gt4245 is monster turbo for 1000HP 3L

$1795AUS delivered. 500hp GT30R. What do you think?

GT30R with .84 ex housing would make your 2L fly.
despite popular belief, lag isn't severe, and the HP is worth the wait.
anything sub $2000 delivered is a bargain!
where are you getting these prices?
Im looking for a GT42R or GT4245...
got a website for me?

A garrett turbo rated at 350hp would be a waste of effort.
Youd get better results from a VF34.
To make a Garrett conversion worthwhile you need a 500+ hp rating.
A .82 rear would give huge top end for drags (120mph+), but on a 2,0 will be full boost at 5000rpm.
If you can live with that, GO FOR IT. :D

true, full boost would be later.. but before that, you'd still have a lot of available torque. it would still be very drivable. the larger ex housing has less restriction, so allows the motor to run more efficiently when off boost.
and when you're on it, when does the motor drop below 5000rpm anyway?
I, for many years have been the spokesperson for early boost and no lag.
I ran a td04 on a 2.5L ffs, with full boost by 2200rpm or thereabouts...
but im over it.
Id rather have a huge turbo that provides little restriction off boost, giving better economy, and 700HP on boost, even if it is from 5000rpm onwards.
see my angle here...??
its there when you want it. lets face it, we only use it 5% of the time anyway.

My mate just put on a gt25 that was off a Nissan ET turbo, had the exhaust flange changed and fitted it to his ea81T.
Should he not have done this?
