Did the rs come with a factory alarm?
As they appear to have the led in the dash, and siren etc.
I'm sure its probably not very good, but is it possible to get a new remote for one, if so if so how much?

Or should I just look at an aftermarket one

Yeah if youve got one, its been put in as an extra, usallually imobs need something switch them on ( some are on timers ) but atleast need somthing to switch it off, like a remote or some have little sticks , like a second key in the dash. Howevre there are some new ones , like in my other halfs VW its got some funki thing in the key that sends it a message or somthing when you put the correct key in the ignition.

yeah... the nwe Mercs dont have a traditional 'key' so to speak...
it sends an untraceable electronic signal that allows the key to turn in the lock....
its all too much james bond-esque....

Actually whats interesting my old man had a really old merc with an imob. and you had to touch a point in the carpet whist starting the car, that was kinda cool!

a liberty we had a few years back came with an immobiliser... don't know if it was a dealer install or what but it was just a basic turn key switch with a little red light that flashsed when it was engaged

When my dad bought his B4 they told us the key also had a chip in it, which was picked up via microvawes or sumfin like that
