Received a letter from Shell today stating a new octane fuel - Shell Unleaded 95 will be available from 1st June 2005. They are introducing it as many vehicle manufacturers are starting to produce vehicles that run on minimum 95 octane fuel.
Shell will have 3 fuels available
Shell Unleaded 91 rating
Shell 95 Unleaded
Shell Premium Unleaded
At this stage they are not sure when the 91 rating will be phased out.

95 is just regular premium unleaded. Not new been around for donkeys years, Shell phased it out with Optimax and must be bringing it back again.

Mat

Caltex is the same- 3 fuels - although they've had 91 and 95 (Vortex Gold) for a while and just brought in 98 (Vortex Premium/Platinum?)

no not quite, at the moment shell has ULP (92) , primium (96)... was down to 95 a few years ago, but back up to 96 currently and optimax (98). they will be going to ULP 91 and ULP 95 and getting rid of premium so as not to confuse any one with optimax. so anywhere that doesn't have optimax... we do have it here in tassie, but they wont sell it to you (in drums only) will now have to do with even crappier fuel of 95 octane
