Last night, Richard (Geach), James (Billsy) and myself went on a multi-car cruise.
Was posted on several SA based internet car forums.
The whole event was just a comedy of errors, to put it nicely.
First of all it was a 9pm meet for 10pm depart, well that was the idea.
We got there at 9.20pm and at 10pm there was no sign of us leaving, infact most cars arrived after 9.50pm.
Several people, including the 'organiser' had CB's, so by about 10.15pm we started giving the 'organiser' grief about why we weren't on the road yet. Several others were doing the same on the CB.
We finally left at 10.30pm
This was the first funny moment - the 'organiser' told everyone to warm up their cars.
Pfft, most were N/A's including the 'organiser's 300ZX.
Well everyone started for the exit and the 'organiser' got stuck mid-pack instead of leading the cruise.
There was cruise notes so everyone knew where to go.
We thought, serves 'em right.
Driving through traffic we got seperated into smaller groups.
We ended up in a group of about 12 cars as we hit the outskirts of town.
Then the lead car didn't stop at the first meet point - which was a blessing as we'd only been driving 20mins and I couldn't stand the idea of sitting around AGAIN!
So we continued on and through some very nice twisties we were driving pretty sedately due to a Skyline and Silvia that were setting a poor pace.
Once we got to the open roads I made my way to the front and headed to the next meet point.
We knew we'd be waiting for ages at the meet point so luckily there was a pub across the road.
We went and got a beer and waited for the rest.
Well the group that finally made it was now less than half the size of the original group
Many either got lost of left.
It came time to leave and as we were all driving out of the town we noticed several cars weaving from side to side.
We were a bit baffled at first, wondering why they were doing this, but I soon realised that they were trying to warm up their tyres !!!
Well we pissed ourselves laughing at that one
The cars engaging in this stupidity were; Ralliart magna,300zx, ford telstar, nissan pulsar and R31 skyline - all N/A's.
That was the last straw for us and we pulled the pin on the cruise, went back to richards for beers and a laugh at what we had just experienced.
So just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience on a cruise...
mark.
