View Full Version : Best shape legacy/liberty

Even though the newer B4-B5 libertys look fancy and more 'euro' than japstyle previous models i still really like this shape (series 3, B3 ?) car the most. It looks just like our series 2 cars but with a modern flare. They look so nice dumped, nice set of wheels and a bit of a body kit.. hell looks better stock than most cars comming out now. It just a nice clean elegant yet masculine shape. The new libs look great but a bit audi/bmw-ish, not the classic subaru boxy cool shape ehh :roll:

this debate has been done before, but I'm definitely a series1 *no bodykit* man myself, I think the older shape looks meaner and sportier than the newer (*cough*family*cough*) look ... but thats just my opinion

I love the shape of the gen 3, the angles are awsome, with a bit of a kit and some eyelids they look mean as.

Yep both those cars are gen2's, First one an early RS (94-95) and second a GT-B, prolly 98.
I loved my gen1 series 1, but i must admit there is nothing meaner looking than the gen2 GT-B/RX front. Plus the rear of the gen2 to current is 2343453945873 times better than gen1's IMO.
It's the reason I bought the car i have at the moment. I mean, gen4's are P.I.M.P but too expensive for little ol me, gen3's have a PHAT rear end but wussy front (such a shame) so gen2 it was :)

thanks, but if you did the same thing to a new shape white liberty, lowered, big dark rims, it'd look pretty tough too
a stock rs is fairly "family" too

5th August 2005, 12:35 PM
I just cant picture it dude, I think someone needs to dig up a tough looking lowered 2005 lib w\ rims as you describe!
we'll compare them side by side! I just think the series1 square-look is more sporty and potentially tough in appearance
true a stock series1 doesnt look that mean, but meaner than a stock '05 compared! (in all fairness I have only seen pics of dead stock 05's)

The Gen 3's look nice with kits but i like the series 1 aswell i've always like the square shape :) I like the latest GT librety the most but it has to be dumped. I guess i am saying there is no best liberty there all good heh!!

It's tough
Pat
5th August 2005, 01:23 PM
Gen 3 is fairy! You get a gen 2 and smooth out all the squareness, the main part that makes them look tuff, and you get all the fairy, i'm a grandma with attitude, look of the gen 3.
The white one above with eyelids, dumped, and mags looks good, but i don't know, the whole package just doesn't seem right.
'05 looks good, would look even better with mags and kit, as already pointed out.
And boy does the stock gen 2 look family, just check out mine! :roll:
Deaks
5th August 2005, 01:31 PM
Um Pat you've got a Gen1 not a Gen2. As there aint too much squareness in a Gen2 at all.
Personally for me its Gen2, then Gen4, Gen1 and then Gen3 (not a massive fan of the headlights, the rest is cool though)

Gen 2 with a GT-B or RX front bumper. Plus get rid of the chrome grill and have it colour coded with black mesh

Well that is fantastic, beautiful looking car. Seriously those 05's S@#$ all over any new bmw/audi in terms of looks IMO. I heard those front grills are aerospace insipred from aircraft because subaru (or one of the company that was subaru before it was "subaru") used to make aircraft. All of the new subarus have a new head design engineer working on them and he used to make the aircraft and now he wants to incorporate that into all the new models aerodynamic... heh mad

Yep, centre of that grille oval is fuselage and chrome bars are wings. But mine`s got a GT mesh grille, no badge.
FYI:
Subaru aka Fuji Heavy Industries have been building centre fuselage and wing sections for Boeing for years and was awarded the contract for that section in the new Boeing 7X7, which will go up against the A380 coming out later this year.
I`ll post up a horrid pic of the MY05 Legacy Blitzen. Has a grille on it like a Kenworth truck :roll:

My preferences:
1 = 4th gen 8)
2 = 2nd gen (has to be the RX/GT-B front though) :twisted:
3 = 1st gen :lol:
4 = 3rd gen :arrow:
As I think someone said before I think the 4th gen looks better than any CURRENT model BMW/Merc/Audi -not that it would be hard (except the M3 which is just about to be replaced by the uglier new shape anyway)
I absolutely hate Subaru Australia for never importing the GT-B and blocking it as a grey import. :evil: (Anyone got a personal import GT-B sedan for sale :lol: )

I think our 06' models are japans 05 models', so its easy to confuse the generations by the years. Just stick to the body shape/design
The aero grill cars are the latest gen so just count back from there B6(?) B5 B4 B3...hell i dunno im confused now. Just go by jap models, aust ones are retarted

:? :? Japan has B4 gen3 model and B4 gen4 MY05 update models, but go from BG to BP5 models. A lot easier going by chassis code. B is for Legacy(Liberty) and G is year code. Imprezas start with G , eg: GB,GD,blah, blah.
Liberty`s go from BC to BP and next number is country or area code. :? :? :shock:
ALSO, new impreza was released in July 05, but won`t be here until 2007.
Aftermarkets already selling add-on bits for them.

Liberty`s go from BC to BP and next number is country or area code. :? :? :shock:
not quite......BC = gen1 sedan, BF = gen1 wagon
BC2 = gen1 sedan with 1.8L & 2WD,
BC3 = gen1 sedan with 1.8L & 4WD,
BC4 = gen1 sedan with 2.0L & 2WD,
BC5 = gen1 sedan with 2.0L & 4WD
BF3 = gen1 wagon with 1.8L & 4WD,
BF5 = gen1 wagon with 2.0L & 4WD,
BFA = gen1 wagon with 2.0L, 4WD & air suspension
Gen2 was BD sedan, BG wagon
Gen3 was BE sedan, BH wagon
so I presume Gen 4 is BP sedan, BL wagon (??)

Gen 1 - 1355kg--------- Great for its age

does weight really matter? I mean gen1 is just the right weight, its heavy and you get the feeling of a heavy car (but with forced induction :twisted: ), thats why i dont own a WRX. nuff said

EV0ETA would be cool :) 2g ouch, maybe invest that money on the engine :)
I find the Gen 1 feels really light and chuckable, but i have been driving skylines for the last 6 years, they feel alot heavier than the RS. Very similar steering feel though.
My RS with no spare tyre as it is on the track only weighs 1330kg which isnt that heavy at all.
