I'm trying to working out how much to sell my '92 Liberty RS for. The details are:
White
277,000 km
Tinted windows
Immobiliser/alarm
Dash panel below steering wheel is breaking around its screws and has a crack on edge next to door
A small patch of paint (5-7 cm dia) missing on top of rear spoiler
Otherwise clean with no accidents
6 months ACT rego

I've had a look through the For Sale ads, but was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for an appropriate starting price?

Thanks

Mark

Thanks.

That's about what I was thinking, but then I checked Redbook and the national average is $7000-$9500 and I started to wonder if I was just hoping ...

you guys in aussie seem to ask about 50-60% more for you're average RS's than us here in NZ ??

in Jan I bought my current '92 RS for $6000 (privately), had 130,000KM's on the clock and was in "OK" condition (interior & exterior needs a bit of work, but engine is mint), it came with the following;

-simota pod filter
-turbosmart boost tap (12.5-15psi)
-gfb bovus maximas bov
-2.5" catback zorst
-generic boost gauge
-4-star alarm\immobilzer\remote starter
-superlow kingsprings

so over there I'm guessing I could sell it with current setup for around $9k-$10k? have to take into consideration the higher km's as well I guess.

advertise it for what Tim suggested above and see how you go, good starting price.

Firstly, don't think I got ripped off buying my RS.
We pay more for them, and get more for them when we sell.
So it balances out.
We at least get to enjoy not seeing every tom, dick and harry driving one like it was a commodore or falcon.

It's a guess, but I imagine we only got a thousand or so RS's due to poor demand at the time.
Subaru was not exactly well known as a performance car builder in 1991.
What was the best car they had produced to that date - a 1.8 SOHC turbo Leone (RX Turbo).

I for one am happy that our cars are rare.
They are more likely to be well looked after and owned by enthuasists, thus not getting a bad rep with the boys in blue.

absolutely, I'm not saying you guys get ripped off at all. we are just lucky (in some ways) to have our DIRTY imports, and yes it must be nice having a car that you dont see everyone else driving everyday (trust me this gets old).

legacies have an extremey bad rep here as cars used in burgs and other crimes because they are quick and handle well and can outrun the cops. #1 or #2 most stolen car in NZ, there are entire rings here dedicated to turbo subaru theft, not a good look for insurance companies or the police.

heh, yeah you are right I did pay a little bit too much. the car is really worth about $4k, but hey I got it for "free" (insurance payout) so I wasnt really concerned, thats what the guy wanted for it so thats what I paid. I just wanted to replace my pride and joy with something similar, so was more of a consolation than anything. I also wasnt too concerned about the condition of it with the intention of rebuilding\replacing pretty much *everything* in '06.
