stay away from "jap parts plus", got a gearbox and diff changed there and even though they were well aware of my diff and gearbox ratio they decided it was ok to change them both to suit the parts they had and then when i went back complaining my car wasn't running right they tried to pin it to other problems namely the electrics or some crap and decided it was ok not to tell me that they put a 4.1 instead of a 4.4 in it
i got them to change the box and diff again and this time they put in the right ratio but the totally wrong gear box for my car (namely a 95 lib 2.0lt TT) they put in a standard 2.2 naturally aspirated gearbox which is close to two 3rds the size of the turbo one and i also didn't find that out till i had to take it to another place because the gearbox was not only wrong but on it's last legs and "swan auto's" took it out and showed me the gearbox..... also the diff from "jap parts plus" was stuffed to so i am still waiting for the owner to get back so i can get a refund on it.
but the gearbox "swan auto's" put in my car is slipping between 2nd and 3rd so i need to take it back to get it changed for the 3rd time so i'll get back to you on how they go with that cause apart from the gearbox they have been very accomodating to other problems in my car
sorry to bitch to you all but i think you need a fair warning

Sounds like quite a few hassles there. My mate got fuked around at Swan Auto the same way. I would stay well clear of both. Hope it works out for ya.

I know what you mean, it is hard to find a business these days, automotive related, that doesnt want to screw you into the ground.
You know what you should do? Get your money back and get one of the small time importers from these forums to find you a gearbox!
Or possibly try jap wholesale in malaga, i havent heard anything TOO bad about them.

yeh i did get my original back after it first got taken out, it's at a mates workshop atm, and so far all this screwing around has cost me $2750 but like i said i am still waiting on a refund for the wrecked diff
and to add to my original post i've just got back from "swan autos" and my gearbox is stuffed AGAIN. i was doing a oil change on my car last night and saw that the sump on the gear box from "swan autos" was extremely dented up (for those that don't know there is an oil pick up in the sump and when the sump is dented up it blocks that pick up from sucking oil into the gear box, meaning your gearbox runs like it should on half the oil it needs meaning MASSIVE BOX WEAR!) i am booked in for a warranty job next week sometime to get it replaced again... 4th gear box to be put in now.
SO... another warning... after talking to the mechanic at "swan autos" he admits to noticing that the sump was dented when he originally put it in but failed to fix/replace it before handing me my car back so... also when i got my car back from them i found a small dent on my rear quater panel
i don't think that "swan autos" is a realiable place if you need to go there please be weary of them
i hope none of you get screwed like i have, good luck :)

just got back from getting that diff refund from "jap parts plus"
he wouldn't give me the full refund back cause he said the problem wasn't his fault.... as noted above he put 3 gearboxes and a diff in my car and all of them where either broken, the wrong part or the wrong ratio....
&$%#&$*&#*&@#*@#@# >:(
i had no choice but to take what he gave me, and while he was writing out the check he was trying to justify why he wasn't giving me the full refund and nothing that dribbled out of his mouth made any sense
plese do yourselves a favour and keep away from that dodgy ass joint, it'll save you alot of heartake and a fair amount of pocketake too

you fellas might want to be careful slaging out peoples buisness's to other people invilded in their industryy with peformance cars ect, as i think it is against the law as it is harming their buisness for an issue which is related between you and the employer not however many thousands of people on this forum.

Good point sik_rs, but there's a middle ground.
Companies operating as a public business have a duty to be reasonable, they don't have to be amazing or even run their business well, but at the end of the day their public business dealings should be fairly straight and narrow, else expect their public image to falter.
Customers dealing with a business have to be reasonable, and should exhaust all options before making comments in public. If they have given the company valid oppurtunities to show that they do business in a fair manner, but have still been jibbed, then I think they are entitled to have a say, and would even go far enough to say they have a duty to put a warning out to potential customers
The trick is treading the line carefully so you don't land yourself in the shits. The best way is to state the facts only, thats ALL facts on both sides, then let others form their opinion. If you've been jibbed and the business is shonky, then their actions will speak louder than your words.
Fastrack I still appreciate the heads up, cheers again

He is just sharing with us the experience he had with them. It just so happens this wasn't a good one. This is the power of word of mouth.
I wouldn't of walk out of there without a full refund.

He has every right to say what ever he wants about any business that is meant to be providing a service to him at a certain level. The fact that he wasn't supplied with the product that he paid for, and even faulty at that, meant that the business did not correctly supply the advertised and paid for product. You can actually report this kinda stuff to ACCC and MTA.
Oh and it's called freedom of speech. The internet is full of it and there is sfa anyone can do about it. It is only a voiced opinion, not a recorded humilition/deprivation of character (i.e. taking somone to court over it). Just like you can call someone a moron and not goto jail for it.
It's sad that the business in question did not thoroughly care about their customer. What goes around comes around! Word of mouth is the most powerful advertiser and they just lost it!

thanks for the backup there fella's nice to see you understand where i am coming from.
sik_rs i do not make a habbit of doing this, in fact this is the first time anyone has ever made me angry enough to voice my opinion. Of course you might go to these buisnesses and find they are God's gift to subaru's but in my case they are somewhere closer to the seventh level of hell, in all i do understand where you are coming from but as noted i am due for what i thought was the fourth gearbox in a month to be installed next week but it turns out it's actually the fifth! and didn't realise i'd miscounted becuase of the amount of times they've stuffed it up!
please do not think this is an attack on you, i think your opinion is valuable, but still i would not like this to happen to someone else regardless of it being a possible one off bad situation

i understand what you are saying, i havent dealyt with any of those, i go elsewhere just cause i do, but you just might want to be careful, i have heard of law cases about this and you may find it hard to get someone else to do a good job for you incase they are worried that you will go and rag them out on a forum which half their customers are on.
your choice however i would just deal with it through fair trading or something that would act get it sorted the legal way.

to sue some 1 is go to cost you 1 arm an half a leg in legal cost, win or loose, over these small sums waste of time, small costs, where injustice is deemed to have occured, try the small claims tribunal here in WA...or just go and kill him, his family plus his dog, dont forget to burn his business and house down....i bet you if you where a member of the coffin cheaters you have got all your $$$ plus some...but when you enter these second hand treasure chest of potenial goodies let the buyer be where, know what you want, know how to reconise it, or take some 1 who does, ask about returned item that are ****ed or dont fit.....always plan your attack and know your subject.....now i will hop off my soap box...but i can say in closing i bet you are smarter now about these things then before...

Not really, its the same reason shows like today tonight and the newspaper exist. To voice opinions and different experiences. It is no more than a different form of that (posting on a forum that is).
There are no legal ramifications with what fastrack has done here.

your right flash i have learnt from this and i will be more weary next time, but really my car is too low for a standard jack to get under and unless i go to my mates workshop i have no way of looking under it so unless i stand and watch the ppl i have paid good money to to install the correct items i can't be sure what's been fitted :(
i can tell you know though that the next time something needs replacing i'm gonna be doing it myself regardless of the cost on my time and energy
customer service is just not what it should be, i've worked in customer service for about 4 years and i always work to please the customer regardless of the strain on my buisness. Hell!, without out the customer who else is gonna bring in the yearly pay packet?
