With the new power restrictions for P platers in NSW, you might not know that , even if you had your P plates before the 11th of July,2005, and you loose your licence, when you get it back, you will have the new restrictions applying to you.

it applies to all new p-platers that gain their licence after july 11th,

if you allready had your red p's before july 11th these new restrictions will not apply to you when you get your green p's, unless you loose your lcience.

it applies to any other p platers if they loose their licence after this date, when they regain their licence they cannot drive turbo, supercharged or v8's,

also, where did you get your avatar? i cannot help myself from laughing when i see it :D

Hey. Thats not exactly true. If you are on your p's and you loose ur licence for a "minor" driving offence, ie, points accumulation, the rule still does not apply when ur licence is returned. It is only if you loose your licence over a major driving offence (speeding 45km/h over the speed limit for example), and you loose your licence for say, a year. Then the rule applies to you! I read up on it cause i am close to loosing mine (points) and thats what an RTA booklet said. So there is a bit of re-assurance for us P platers anyway!

I read it in a little booklet from a stand at the rta. Try there, otherwise im sure all the info is on the RTA website. Hopefully they dont change it like they change everything else, this state sucks for P platers. Actually it sucks for everyone, 3 demerit points for doing 5 over, what a joke!!!

Here it is, straight from the rta website;

The prohibited vehicle condition does not apply to:

Existing provisional (P1 and P2) licence holders prior to 11 July 2005, unless they are disqualified for a serious driving offence committed on or after 11 July 2005.

I guess you would have to ask them their idea of a "serious driving offence", but it seems that your in the clear if it's just points accumulation :)

i'm in the same situation at the moment.

I gave the RTA a call just to confirm some things with them and the lady on the phone
told me that if your licence is suspended say for a driving offence, it is not applied
but if the licence is disqualified then the new rule applies

weird huh?
i've got a suspension coming my way very very soon.. lucky its not a disqualification *phew*
