This is what I was told;
1/4 mile either 14.9 or 14.8, I forget.
0-100 was 6.8secs
147kW (flywheel)
and somewhere around 260Nm torque

There's a post on it somewhere if you want something a little less vague.

Do the new NSW laws apply in the ACT? In any case you'd be well advised to get some insurance quotes first!!

in terms of stock performance they are really all much a muchness despite the differences in power output. The new GT's are quite a progressive car to drive but i reckon they should still have the EJ25T in them from the Forrester XT. I think you'll find that the RS will weigh the least of all of them.

well in ACT you get your L's at 15 and 9 months and iam 15 and 2 months and i got a quote from Just cars for $4500 for comprahensive and $812 for third party property fire/theft

these are for an 1992 RS sedan with an Exhaust and lowered

Yeah but do the new P plater laws exist for ACT people? ie. No V8s, No Turbos, No high performance 6 cylinders.

Akkk! $4500 for insurance!!! Holy Crap! Try to get it insured under your parents/older brother/sister/uncle/etc... I pay about $800 for comprehensive - altho I'm 28 with 60% NCB.

IMHO theres no long term gain from using your dad/mum/uncle/brother for insurance. what happens when the time comes and you actually want to insure something in your own name and you have no history? you will be in the same boat anyway. your best off trying to get to rating 1 as quickly as possible and staying there.

IMHO if you take out comprehensive insurance for 4500 on a 10g car then your mad!!!! Just go third party!

But as ive said in your other thread...go for the N/A
Get a herritage with all the fruit and then turbo it in a few years time!

RSTurbo,

Insurance companies don't go according to the number of years you are insured anymore to determine your rating ... they go according to the number of years you have been driving to determine your rating. This changed only a few years back ... after I started my insurance!

The reason for this change, is that many people have company cars these, where insurance is paid for under the business policy. Once a person is striped of their company car for whatever reason, and needs to jump back onto normal comprehensive insurance, it was a hassle for insurance companies to track their record and justify their rating 1 if that was the case.

Hence, there is much merit in having insurance under your parents/brothers/sisters name ... or who ever is cheapest, as long as the policy allows you to drive it! :)

AWD_1993, that is very interesting, thanks for letting me know. i am just wondering how this is verified by the insurance company? Not too long ago (few months) i was ringing round looking for my best renewal deal and all the companies i dealt with all said they would need to talk to my previous insurer to verify my rating and history. If they dont go by insurance in your name, why would they have needed to talk to my previous insurance company?
But if you are right, that makes it a lot easier for young guys to get cheap insurance for performance cars, which Im not sure is a good thing or a bad thing?

RSTurbo,

Yeah, most insurance are steering towards not being able to insure under 25s as part of your parents insurance policy anymore, and forcing under 25s to get their own insurance.

Thank goodness I'm half way out of that stage now ... only pay $600 for my insurance for on the Liberty RX, which I think is pretty good :)

RSTurbo

yeah $600 isnt bad. how old are you tho?

My suggestion is to sign up to NRMA roadside service ASAP. I signed up the same day i got my L's then when i bought a new car at 21 i got automatic 50% ncb because i had already been a member for 5 years. now been a member for like 9 years in it really pays

I enables you to build a history up from a young age !!

i started out with AAMI and they (then) had a system called child credits. It ment that as long as I was named on my parants policy I was able to earn credits towards my own insurance when the time came for me to have my own policy. Im pretty sure this has changed now.

DUI and other major driving offenses and accident record is still taken into consideration as far as premiums go. Insurance companies have a knack of finding out just about anything if they put their mind to it!

RSTurbo,

I'm 22, turning 23 next month ...

Evil_REX,

If you know you know that you're not going to do ANYTHING silly, then an you can have any car, as a first car ...

My first car was an RS ... and I had no problems with it whatsoever ... I've now moved on (or moved back) into an RX ... but soon to upgrade into another turbo (in the pipeworks)

Essentially, what I'm trying to say, is just know your limits ... and you'll be fine ...
