They seem quite impressive off the line... haven't had a crack against one in the RS but have destroyed a few in the RX7.
Was just doing research on Holdens homepage and the bastards get traction control but weigh 1655kg!!!

second set of lights he tried the no spin which slaughtered him! by then he gave up! hehe!

Wow... didn't realise that.
Does that mean you're saying they were as expensive new as today's STI's?

I had the previous model Ute (VYII) SS and the liberty in standard form kept up with it on a rolling start to about 100km and then the ute slowly pulled away ( I owned both cars at this time). That was the 245kw one and my bro and I were very happy with the RS's capabilities!!!

Base model RS's with no options in 92 were just under $40,000. Then by the end of it the wagpn came out and one fully loaded with sunroof mudflaps and the standard ABS bosco is right on the money.
Don't forget fellas a Group A commodore in 1990 was just over the $60,000 mark.

Yeh my bro had the 1st gen3 in a VT series 2 or 3 canna remember. But at the time my 4wd turbo laser with a blown motor and slipping clutch would keep up with him from 90-150. And my bro's ss had 265kw at the motor due to tuned lenght extractors and exhaust. I would like to see what would happen now with my B4....... slaughter would be a good word!!!

I've haven't tried in the Subbie yet... waiting for new gearbox but I think its just going to be off the pace by a few car lengths when its going again.
Speaking of the acceration bit from 70 - 140, one of the brand new SS's was being a nutbag driver near the entrance to a freeway ( you know passing every1 dangerously and showing off his big "man-ly" V8 ) - you could tell he was going to have a crack as we were conveniently side by side just coming onto the entrance... so 3rd was selected , about 3500rpm just coming onto full boost :) Anyway I hit the brakes HARD at 140 still in 3rd and counted at least 1-2 seconds before he came past still accelerating.. PRICELESS.
Unfortunately it wasn't the Subbie but then any turbo Jap car beating an SS is always good :)

Don't worry I know what you mean. Mine will just pull on an XR6 turbo. They must have some good mods on board. Mod the SS and see what happens.

Its not as though the "new" SS's are that much more of a threat.. I mean what did they increase the power this time by? 2kw and an extra torque? I mean **** holden is really pushing the engine technology barrier! They've been using the same engine for the last 5 years with hardly a wiff of fresh air in it

its the same story as them with the new gen4, 297kw??? Why not make it go hard from the get go?? im sure they have method to their madness...well I hope so!!

Look at the XR6 turbo and how much potential it has. Not every tom dick and harry can handle the power and most of us here are prob in that group.
Also its mechanical sympathy for there warranty's.

Was with in my brothers car with my mate driving home for lunch along wallgrove road in sydney when some guy in a brand new 305 kw clubsport in front of us decided to boot it to show off to his misses in the passenger seat.
He booted it in second gear nathan kept the libs in third flicked the boost switch we spooled up to 16psi and started catchin him. Just as the road opens up again and were right behind him pulling out to overtake he decides he doesn't want to play anymore and pulls into the left hand exit lane. haha I couldnt believe we caught him lol but it took us the rest of the time on heavy brakes to stop for the lights up ahead. Couldnt even get away from the LX Lib conversion and its still fwd but the new vf35 in it rules over the tdo4. I cant awit to get a 92 front cut on my car lol.

Go the switch electronic dual stage boost controllers rule!
Vasilli just go buy a turbosmart electronic dual stage boost contrlloer they are fairly simple to hook up. Also instant power at the flick of a switch is a neat trick when you feel like screwing with some guy in a big "v8" lol.

to blow a clubby a 6 litre stuck up front and on the run,( i have had about 6 or more chevy V8s as work cars) you will need some serious hp to stay in the hunt, weight or no weight they can hunt when on the run, its called grunt from a big donk, tickle it up a bit, they even go harder......best to pick on them at the lights and better still when its raining...if think my near baby should handle them no problems...

I had a go against an LS2, and was surprised to hold him off all the way through 1st and 2nd.
But before everyone says "that's a load of crap" and "he wasn't trying" let me show you this.
The LS2 hits 100km/h about 1 second before my MY02... BUT thanks to AWD traction, I'M STILL IN FRONT.
Notice the time to 100 metres below...
That's the point where he catches me, at which stage I'm doing 95 and about to change to third, and he's doing around 110. Beyond that I'm watching his taillights.

i have had 2 runs against v8's recently..
beat one of the newish ss wagons with a nice exhaust last night on low boost (10psi) very easily, up to about 150 before i backed off...
and another last week against a orange monaro cv8 with an exhaust and 19" roh rims,i had the boost up a bit(14psi) and it was all over, we got up to about 160 and then i remember there wes a speed camera ahead, i still got him by about 5-6 lengths, i did hear him struggling with tracion tho...
