hey all
just wondering, how hard is it to convert a gx manual to rs manual? what sort of price am i looking at to do this conversion? i know i buy a half cut and change it all over, but is there anywhere in sydney that can change it all over for me, (like supply and fit the half cut and all associated parts?) and how much am i looking at...?

any first hand experiences appreciated...
thanks!
matt

Im also thinking of doing this to my AWD Manual wagon, any comments on how hard it is etc?

Is it worth the time? Any cost estimates if i cant do all the work myself? What essentials need to be replaced?

watto: that link's good.
i'm more thinking of the "drop it off n/a, pick it up a week later in turbo form" style install...
anyone done this? am i up for huge amounts to get someone else to do it? my only issue is that i dont have a garage or even a shed... so no room/or space to do anything.
thanks
matt

Cambee, where are you located? As Al from sunspares in Queensland is the god of conversions. Both dave_wants_boost_now and Forestgreen have sent libs up there and both have been v.happy with the results!

JimmySuperFly: Have a look at the above link watto supplied. Cruise did a top notch job on his conversion. Follow his guide!

Yeah am checking that link out now, is an awesome guide!
Have to look into getting all these essential parts and add up my budgets, i dont own a lot of equipment so doing a lot of the work myself may be close to impossible, but i think i will buy most parts myself all up so i can choose exactly what I'm getting.

Thanks for info so far!

i have performed 2 of these conversions myself in my front yard! it is fairly easy to do as long as you have a decent tool kit! you can get RS frontcuts between 2000 - 4000, if you go for an rs frontcut it is the simplest, but you are getting an older engine so KM's may be higher and you will most likely get lifter noise, or you could get a wrx frontcut and get the engine wiring from it grafted into your loom.
it depends where you get it from how good the parts are, soem places may be dearer but thats because it has been fully checked over, also some places do not offer you warranty.
my brother was quoted around $1500 for soemone to put it in,

it dosnt matter wheather you or someone else puts it in, just DONT overlook the fuel pump it is very important to change this or you could have a major budget blowout like me :D

yeah really if u intend to do the conversion yourself you really need
socket kit(extensions & breaker bar a must)
spanner set
plyers, hammer
etc

there is alot of info and alot of people on this site that have completed the conversion so help is allways at hand

good luck with the conversion when you decide to do it :D

Eventually. It will definitely be making another appearance at ROC. Not taking it to any stages though. I'll leave it at the hotel and me an Kel will whore with someone. And it is a conversion bud, it's an RS to JDM STi conversion!!
