View Full Version : 20's - to big???

Hey

i need a bit of feed back whether people think 20's are to big for my wagon or if i should just stick to 18's.
for some that have seen my car (shaved candy red wagon) do the wheels look out of proportion to the car.
i would post pics but i dont know how to.

i know the 20's are very full sick spec and are definelty a big performance robbing wheel but i put them on so i couldnt drive so fast.hehe.

i do have 18's as well which i thinklook alright as well.
im sort of pondering if i should just sell my 20's and not have 2 sets of wheels...

i go through stages of liking the 20's and not and somethimes think that they look to big.

any opinions welcome :)

tim.

stay with the 18's. looks tops as is. spend the money on a part that will give you performance, not take it off you...

From memory the wheels in your sig are 20s? I'm trying to remember from some 05 cruise pics. I'm not a fan of big wheels or chrome, but I think they suited the car. It'd probably be best to chuck up pics side by side for people to judge.

the 20s suit the car IMO but probs to big to go on twisty roads

the 18s that you had on it on the putty road cruise looked pretty hot aswell

OMG, no offence intended... but that looks ridiculous! WAY to big for the car. Just my opinion.

18's FTW!

If you are going to have chrome 20's, you MUST have the ones that keep spinning when you have stopped, then you can look like a "complete" tool, not just a tool, or get a Chrysler 300, about the only car they look half decent on.

20's mmmm i know they look hot!!! BUT i would stick to 18's or 17's light weight jap rims, i'll be in the hurt for rims soon so i guess we can both go looking :)
i guess its upto you??? not us lol... (you have seen the light)

Big shiny wheels are completely and utterly gay, sorry this isn't my opinion it's just a rock solid fact. The money would be better spend on a shiny gold clock necklace and a grill for your teeth.

Ive been on two cruises with you now, and have seen the 20's on at Autosallon, i gotta say i love the look of your car riding on 18's, makes it look all in proportion!! and a whole lot more classy

Cheers,

20's waaay to big. Go with the 18's, or better yet just go stealth and bolt up a set of rexie 16's. Bling dont make you go any faster!

Why not try to find a nice set of 19's?

Not too big or too small.

Or are they too hard to find to suit subs?

its all depends on what you looking for with ya car. If you want people to look and go "whoah they 20" rims. they look pimp" then keep the 20's. keep in mind you have to lower it so the top of the tyre is in the guards, not like that other wagon.
but if you going for speed, then drop to 18's. if you going for real quick, drop to 16's.
personal preference i say. people may not like the look, some people will.

hey yeah cool, thanks for all the feed back, i do thiink they 20's are a bit to bling but i just wanted to squeeze 20 under the guards as a challenge. i dont know how to put pics up, but my car definietly does not sit as high as the pic of the blue wags.

at the rear the guard is inline with the top of the rim and at the front the guard is about half way down the top of the tyre so is sits. but when i drive it generally will tuck the top of the rim under the guard.

im driving around with my 18's on at the moment but the car is to low!!! it scrapes every where on the belly.... at least with the 20s on the car it looks like the car is low but it really has a fair bit of clearance.
i find witht he 20's on the car its not too slow (i go 182 KW ATW's) so it still is pretty reasonable and not to sluggy.
when i do want to go for a thrash i do put my 18's on like when i went on the putty road run. :)

I suppose at the end of the day i did want to have the whole whoa factor for cruiseing around being all ricer and stuff and be of of the few/if any RS actually properly tucking 20's.

just had a thought ..i have a new plan........ i thnk im might sell the 18s and possibly see how much dish i can get to fit with an 18 inch wheel..... hhmmmm an Wagon with big dish that would be horny.

can poeple advise any wheels that have big dish......i think i might be able to go a 18x8.5?? maybe 18x9??? what 18s have people fitted to there cars??
i thnk the only dished wheel i have seen on a suby is like the Lesno something or other

Like I said, mate. Work Meister S1s, orrrrrrrr.... Volk GTCs. :D

Simmons would be able to spin you up a set of custom-offset rims to give you as much dish as you wanted, as well ;)

Your going to have alot of problems with 20" rims. What width are you going to go? You surely couldnt go any wider than 8" at the very max. You are better off getting smaller rims and better tyres and bigger brakes. Im a fan of 20's, my brother has got a set of 20's his fairlaine. But he even he had problems and his got a long wheel base fairlaine.
