im curious how people have lowered their libs. i put in king lows and im pretty sure ya cant get supalows for the libs. 1.5' just isnt enough.
how has people gone lower without coilovers, or is that the only way???

as you thought, you cant get superlow RS springs, so if you want, use wrx superlows. this will do the job, but you will need wrx spring hats and rubbers for the fronts. rears are fine. apart from that they will fit ok.
but rs lows are low enough anyway. once they drop to their final height (after a week of 2), it will be a nice height. dont go too low, it looks dumb and makes driving a hassle.

Hey big_tedman,

I'd have to agree 100% with RSTurbo, as going super low looks great but leaves little compliance or adjustability in your suspension.

For my first Liberty I went for KYB Excel-Gs with Kings Lows on WRX 16x7s. Looked great and transformed the handling.

With my current Liberty, I'm planning to go with the same KYB struts (super comfortable and compliant for such a firm, responsive strut) and STi pink springs (-40mm) with the same WRX 16x7s. A great compromise between comfort/handling/value for money and should be in by the end of next month.

Of course, there's also a 19mm front bar, 20mm rear bar, front and rear strut braces and lower H-brace going in... :D Mine is a daily driver so I personally don't really need the type of adjustability offered by coilovers.

I've heard that coilovers make the handling even more amazing but that they can be annoyingly uncomfortable once the novelty has worn off. By comparison, my whole set-up (struts, springs, bars, braces) costs way less than just coilovers and at 8/10ths, would probably be just as good.

Apart from those who occasionally venture out onto a track, I'd be surprised if most guys that run coilovers don't just set them to what's most comfortable and then never bother to touch them again :P

Ergo... a good setup doesn't automatically mean 'coilovers' but do your research and find what's best for you

currently my lib is about as low as XXXR's, its low enough to get the 16's just under the gards at that height the coilovers still have enogh adjustment to lay her on the ground all this without lossing any travel in the shocks and hense performance. When you start getting really low springs the shocks are not able to function properly their stroke is greatly reduced and handling worsens, you start hitting the bump stops, to combat that yo need really firm socks and the ride would be worse the coilovers.

Having said that my coilovers are not uncofortable at all and that is with the semis that have no give in the side wall, hard as, further i drive my car daily.

the harshness of the ride depends on what bump and rebound you have as well as the spring rates.

You have to ask yourself, what do you want out of the car, do you want to lower it for looks or do you want to build up a car that eats corners.

p.s. happy birthday XXXR

I got Whiteline lows on my car and i dont have to slow down too much to go over a speed bump. If i got superlows i dont think a can (legal) would roll under my car without hitting the exhaust.

Have the whitelines in mine, and we don't have a driveway thing, just a kerb. No issues getting up there at all :)

I have wrx superlows in ther rear, rs fronts, sti struts.

Here's how it looks:

If I had my time again I'd get RS rears and have them reset. teh wrx rears are softer than the RS fronts.

Guess who I got mine from??

thanks lol :D

the king springs are softer springs also so the ride is comfortable but the handling isnt spectacular

THere's a valid reason for that. :) The lower spring capture point on the sti struts at the rear is 30mm higher than in an RS, so I needed the superlow to drop the extra distance.
