View Full Version : Green wagon moves on.

I parted ways with my old green wagon today.
It's been sort of for sale for a while(I'm not big on marketing) and a forum member teed up the sale to his cousin in Sydney(Thanks Leon).
Here's the old girl in her glory days. Served me well over the years, never missed a beat and went better than most expected.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/Greenwagon005.jpg
Anyhoo, while I know it will serve the new owner well it is time for me to find another Liberty.
I have my eye on a 97/8 GX wagon. Has the good interior and parallel roof rails like the GT's.
I already have a GTB engine and 4.44 box in the shed for it and for the ancillaries I was thinking V3 STi ecu and wiring, VF36 or 37 twin scroll turbo side mounted on either custom factory manifold or more likely X force type headers with modified up pipes. Then the usual FMIC and custom exhaust system.
Add brakes, suspension and a few styling mods(RX bar and fogs, GTB tailgate spoiler, colour coded side strips and GT skirts) and we should have a quick, streetable and somewhat unique wagon to add to the ever increasing gen 2 turbo stable.
Looking forward to it.

The old girl has a WRX TDO5 engine with 3000 stall WRX VTD auto.
Got any good bits left over from the GT Deaks? Body bits.
Sunroofs are the devils work. They are like breast enlargements, look hawt but suck when they leak with age.
Will make an offer on the wags tomoz. Bidding on some headers on ebay and have the turbo lined up already. Just need to decide between tightass GT twin scroll turbo and more expensive WRX version.

You'll need propper Twin Scroll headers for the Twin scroll turbos.
Means you'll need the sump & pickup too.
Go for the VF36 or 37. The GT one is just too small ;)
Al
31st October 2006, 10:19 AM
The x force headers are laid out the same as factory twinscroll headers(paired cylinders front and rear). They are cheaper, easier to get and don't require a sump change. I have to modify the up pipes anyway to allow straight entry which is not a problem with the x force headers.

I hear you on the GT turbo though. VF37 FTW. $300 dearer than a GT.

Stints and I ripped the interior out today for odour neutralising.
I also whacked my plates on it so people don't think I am a hippy permaculture farmer.
Bought a Power FC and Tein coilovers for it today also.
The PFC will make it easy for me to run the EJ20R with 440's on a std WRX loom which I have.
The Teins will probably bring complaints from my wife but I can live with that.

The new green car is getting fixored. It's insured for more than most peeps think there old RS is worth so no off writing for it.
So I have the titanium WRX 17's and I lowered it this afternoon after working on Favro's car most of the day.
I bought some Teins for it but decided they would be too hard for my old bones so sold them to scooby85(Ben) for his V3 Gen 2 Conversion that will be on the bench shortly.
So I whacked a set of kings sedan rears and some no name jap front low springs with WRX struts of some description into it this arvo. Turned out nicely I think. Should look good after the dedent and respray.

I also have the ebay tuned extractors and VF37 twin scroll turbo at hand. Should live happily with the GTB engine and box and PFC.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/Fezzawagon/Fezzawagon003.jpg
VF27 is VF30 + P25 twin scroll housing.
Interestingly, we compared a JDM Gt turbo to the VF27 and not only was it massif comparibly, it isn't even the same inlet or dump pattern. There is a huge difference in the up pipe(s) diameter and well as the wastegate(s in VF37) and dump flange. The GT turbos were mitsubishi TDO4HGL's not IHI turbos. Is that what the Aus GT have fitted? Oversteer?
Jarrod
18th November 2006, 10:16 PM
Al for educational purposes can you post a pic of the up pipe connection of the turbo, haven't seen a twin scroll housing yet.

love the colour! z32 meter bigger than a v3 sti? or you running it for the PFC?
Al
15th December 2006, 08:38 AM
I got the whole lot off a V2 STi from yapan. The Z32 meter is the same diameter as a std RS meter but has better resolution than any other meter(except maybe infiniti or soemthing rare like that). I don't know why the V3/GTB meters are so big because they don't offer better resolution than a Z32.

So they suit the same disc as the sti Brembos? What brand are the GTR calipers?
You should make a template of those brackets you've made for the calipers and mass produce them, well enough for a few of us club members anyway
Do you know what other Subaru wheels they fit under?
Al
19th December 2006, 10:30 PM
They are just R32 GTR Nissan Sumitomo callipers. Same as R33 GTSt also. They are alloy not cast like the WRX callipers. The pad itself is basically the same as the WRX pad(and many other sumitomo callipers). The calliper used to have NISSAN written on it but it was removed for clearance.
They should fit under any WRX 17" wheel. There is a 6 mm spacer behind the wheel.
I have to mount up the rears as well but have yet to decide on a rotor size.
