I have one of those for when the RS is off the road (which is sooo often these days, erk). Decent car, the seats have sunk though and it hurts my back going between the RS and the LX

tbear

dansun, I couldnt get the exhuast to fit, the flange size was wrong so I put the stockie back on.

and Im going the whole nine yards with the TCPAUTO liberty. :) Td05 20G (hopefully) front mount, gauges, exhaust, etc etc
Its going to be madnessss

tbear
3rd November 2006, 12:42 PM
i think the 20G is going to be too big for the 2ltr, might have to go the TDO5 16G

Talk to Bazza or Markmcrs. They have had 20g TD05's on 2l motors AFAIK.

need some thoughts on paint for the car.

as it is white im thinking an easy job would be snow camo? what are your thoughts?? good or bad? let me know.

Im basically looking to build an "angery" car to sum it up in one word. :) what paint would you think would suit.

Black with the skirts (if you end up getting some RS skirts for it) and any 'normally' black trim painted in matt black, so its different to the shiny body pannels. Whatever you do, don't colour-code the plastic/chrome coloured strips around the car, in every respray i've seen where thats been done it looks terrible.

tbear
7th November 2006, 04:13 PM
thanks for the advise Rage, what about matt black the whole car and leave the plastic/ crome bits the same.
Im really looking forward something new that will stand out, and give the car a character of its own.

...plus a few other guys who may be able to add their opinions. I personally love this turbo because its very cheap to setup, has big potential (rumour has it that someone had >240kw with about 2bar) and IMO think its the perfect size for the 2L but that is because it suits the way I like to drive....

tbear
7th November 2006, 04:57 PM
how much power is yours putting out Bazza. I would be happy with 200kw - 220kw atw. :):)

another question, how would a standard wrx engine handle the 200kw?

Thanks for the input as well.

I was just over 200kw last dyno and am I'm told by several people that 22 psi will get you 220kw atw.

Mark is the expert on the stock WRX engine and what it can handle. But from what I've seen 200 kw atw stock non STI engine is very doable.... above that and you may be pushing it plus the problem is the stock cam profile and even STI cam profile don't really suit efficient flow at that power with the 2L. I say this only because I saw a TD05H-20G / 2L car change cams and straight away go from 195kw to 225kw @ 20 psi.

tony your a bastard! please don't paint it white camo, that's what i want to do!!!! nah i'm kidding go your hardest, i reckon that would look the goods. if my car doesn't sell looks like i'm gonna keep it. + we're welding the diff this weekend. oh well that's awesome to see you've bought a liberty tony. maybe you could convert it to rwd? haha anyway good on ya!

tbear
7th November 2006, 05:24 PM
lol Tom, Ive seen a few nissans in the snow camo and It looked real nice, but no scooby's.

lol rwd would be cool, but I like the awd. :)

Paint the whole thing matt black, rhino liner or something. That will look MEAN, industrial/purposeful, military etc etc and its different.

Matt black cars look dodgy in a good way. It has the prototype-ish or uncommercialized look. Add some black 5 spoke rims with red wrx 4pots peaking thru, RS side skirts and rear skirts, lower as much as u can with coilover nice and flat, leave no wing for a clean ass, modd from grill and front bar with front mount as centre piece once u have done conversion, maybe leave the bonnet without a scoop for something different, wrx seats would be nice touch. All black weapon.. you'll get pulled over alot methinks lol

dansun
9th November 2006, 02:51 PM
And if your thinking of going to the shops during summer, crack two eggs in a pan, throw in a couple of rashes of bacon, leave it on your drivers seat....
Lunch will be served. :D

tbear
16th November 2006, 12:07 PM
lol dan, I like the idea of the matt black, would look tough as! but to hot in summer..

I just put some go fast tcpauto stickers on the beast...

SHEPPO3930
16th November 2006, 01:05 PM
my suggestion would be spray the whole car gloss black with blacked out windows. now get your company logo written all over it, massive, as in the TCP-AUTO just takes up the whole side and part of the bonnet, roof, windows (apart from front) and boot. imagine it (the logo) like a massive net draped over the car.. in white! that would be different i rekon.

the gloss black and white idea is from the Jack Daniels Racing Team v8 supercars, they look stunning on the track i rekon

dansun
16th November 2006, 01:11 PM
Hell yeah, makes me wanna go out, buy Jack Daniels and get smashed when I see those cars on the track.
Tony imagine what this could do for your buisness.

does anyone know anything about these engines? I know the vers 3 and 4 had forgies, does tihs one?

Cheers

I had a VER2 STI motor till a put the rod through the block reving it hard.!!
Thats right I rember haha, I had a TDO5 that was a T3/T4hybrid good little turbo.
I was running it on 18PSI on the higway with Big Az doing some tuning on the highway.
I was not over reving the motor was shifting around 6800rpm max and than Az looked at the
handset started to laugh saying that I was short shifting it...lol
I than reved it out till 8000rpm and the rest is history.haha
But any way there a tuff little motor and are right at home in the 200KW ATW area.lol

Al
11th December 2006, 10:43 PM
Yours was V1 Tomo, V2 has cams and underbucket shims so is probably better.

Az

VER 1 sorry Al its has been a while.lol
It was a good little motor bless it's little soul.haha
If I had my time again I would I have left the VF34 on and been content
of what I had and tryed to chase a high 11's with the VF34.haha
Not really but It was a great little street setup VF34 on 19PSI with VER1 STI block.!!!!
What turbo are you running Tbear.??

tbear
13th December 2006, 09:23 AM
Just got the stock TD05 on it now, but It WILL be upgraded to a TD05- 18G or 20G as soon as some more people jump in on the group buy. :)

tbear
13th December 2006, 09:24 AM

what sort of quarter time should this achieve?

tbear

Still needs alot of work, but she is getting there. :)

If anyone is interested in a conversion I would highly recomend subi-evolution, this whole conversion is only take 2.5 - 3 weeks!

Looking Good there tbear. I have a V2 STI RA in my wagon and it is sooo sweet! revs really nice but no forgies. I just run it on about 18 psi with the TDO5 16G and its plenty quick. Hoping to get front mounted in the near future and I'll be happy. Anyway black cars are the shizz! matte black is super stealth and sexy. I have a black wags and I'm wanna get the front mount annodised black and evetually spray my wheels black. Black is the new Black! DO IT!

tbear
13th December 2006, 03:24 PM
well i will sell the turbo at the right price, and who every has the cash first will get it.

doesnt the V2 STI RA have forgies?

the V2 STi does..

and is it safe to run 18PSI on the V2 engine

Dan

I will be cruising as soon as I get it back from Subi. so maybe next weekend we go for a cruise??

Al
13th December 2006, 04:01 PM
Yes the V2 STi RA has forgies, it's only the NON STI Subaru RA's that don't.
These are tough old engines, 18psi is a no brainer with correct tuning and a good fuel pump.

The manifold needs paint Tony. :)

tbear
13th December 2006, 04:09 PM
cheers Al,

18 PSI hear i come!!

yeah im going to get the rest of the red off the manifold, it looks so sh#t like that

Al
13th December 2006, 04:10 PM
Hmm, can't see a 5th injector in those pics and V2 STi RA has DCCD gearbox with 3.9 final drive. That would be a normal STi V2 not an RA.

tbear
13th December 2006, 04:11 PM
Yea, subi told me it was an RA, but yeah it looks like the V2

Al
13th December 2006, 04:15 PM
No probs.
Stints younger brother is actually putting the same engine into the same type of donor car as yours over x mas. Great value front cut if you can find one.

dansun
13th December 2006, 04:51 PM

wasabi79
14th December 2006, 02:33 PM
Hmm maybe I just got a V2 RA or a V2 Sti. Definately no forgies. Its Datmans old engine and she goes like lightning.

tbear
