Well after posting a thread and reading al's post on the pfc. I will need to upgrade quite soon, to an ebc and the avcr might be the go, question being you can buy a powerfc boost control kit, does anyone have one and how much am I looking at the have it installed.

my car is currently at nrg automotive to have work done as im having issues with the car cutting out all the time and have done everything I can to eliminate faults without replacing exppensive parts. so if I can while its there ill have them install one for me.

how much do you think for one of these pfc boost control kits vs. an avcr by itself

The Apexi BCK is listed at around $340 + shipping on both nengun.com (www.nengun.com) and greenline.jp (www.greenline.jp)
An AVC-R will be somewhere between $500 - $600 + shipping from the same suppliers

I have a power fc with a separate apexi boost solenoid but no controller you can have both for $800.

I have PowerFC and PowerFC Boost Control Kit. Hendo is right, buy from Nengun (I did), it's fast and cheap.

Install it yourself, its real easy and I can send photos if you need.

The boost control kit only gives you 4 preset boost settings which are flat over the entire RPM range. You can't program a boost curve like you can with an AVC-R. However I had mine tuned at 4 different settings, but have never changed it from 17.5 psi (the highest one). Its much easier to just control boost and power with your right foot.

so its best for a street driven car without going crazy for controlling 100 different boost functions through an avcr to just buy a pfc boost control kit. with the kit can you through the pfc still have the duty cycle control.

Yes, if you're happy with a using a boost preset rather than a boost curve and don't want a display or any other control over your boost other than set and forget, then it's the way to go.

You use the PFC hand controller to select which of the 4 boost presets that you want to use.
