you can get away with the rego check. You will have a spare tire, it will just be flat :P and what's a rego check? We just pay and whack the sticker on :)

A really good trick is to have a full boot..really discourages people checking the spare

i never even knew that the spare got checked for rego? I guarantee you 90% of spare tyres in the back of peoples cars are flat as regardless!!!

I've found 17s to be cheaper...but it still hurts when you add rego + insurance

nice 17's X 4 + i did a starter motor 3 weeks ago, service (oils and the like ) last week, + rego + insurance + personal plates, it all adds up alright,

17's cheaper then 15's ??? really nice 17's you pay 250-300 a corner ... 15's you would get nice 15's under 250!

As far as rego checks go, there doesn't have to be a spare tyre within the car. it isn't safety related, but more of a convenience to the driver.
A few other things of interest with rego inspections, as long as the vehicle pulls up in the brake test within the specified limits, the car can be metal on metal with brake pads and it can't be failed. And if there is wheel covers fitted, the inspector cannot remove the wheel cover to check wheels for security, half the wheel nuts can be missing under a wheel cover as long as there isn't excessive movement it passes.
