My old ride - Written off - with pics

Happened a little while ago but only got the pictures recently.

Sold my car to a mate and 1 mth later, he was sitting at a set of lights then bam, a little toyota echo hit him in the back corner at 90km then pushed the RS into the ute infront of him.

Was a very very sad day, was hoping to eventually buy the car back off him when I had the funds again.

If only I could have bought an RS for $4000.. ah well, ill get another one day after kid is at school and mrs back at work..

Mate didnt get any pics of the echo, but yeah apparently everyone walked away in the echo, but the echo driver didnt have insurance, was some young fella.. 18 i think?

Mate was spewing. But what I never understood, mate got payout from his insurance for the rs and then went and bought a Manga??? But he now does have a GSXR 1000 motor also so i guess if he has a need for speed he has it

Yeah mate was fine.. from the impact thou he actually broke the drivers seat, he isnt a huge bloke but threw him around a bit..

He was fully praising the liberty bonnet arms that connect the bonnet to the car (sorry i dont know its technical term) as if they hadnt of held, the bonnect could have gone straight into his head

Ah yeah, and Al u might rememeber this car before u left sunspares.. i told u about the VOS chip that was in it that no one knew about.. was such a good car.. i really wanted to get the engine out of it however the gearbox had a bent selector fork i think as it was really tough to get from 1st to 2nd at full revs 5000-6500rpm..

good to here nothing bad happened to him. as for the echo u would think that it would have rolled being a small car & at that speeds etc... can't belive another rs is gone... so what happens now? was it insured? does he get to keep etc..?? as u said sad to see smashed up r.i.p...

Looks like most of the mechanical components are salvageable though... You could move it all into a GX conversion or just sell off the parts...

Good to hear no one was hurt mate.

I would have liked to know who was at fault, eg, driver or car but just from the sounds of it, was prob the driver!

sorry to hear about your old car,glad everyones OK.Was looking at the photos saying it didn't look that bad,then I saw the one of the roof buckled,it was a huge hit.Anyway hope you get funds soon to get a new RS.Cheers!!!

Yes im on twincam.org also.. I dont have an RS but when i get the funds ill be getting another one, and if the $4000 i had to spend on the Corona was enough for another RS, i would have got one..

Was the drivers fault in the echo..

Mate was actually at the intersection of Creed Rd and Pine Mountain Rd waiting to turn right but the right hand turn lane was quite full so the cars were in the right hand normal lane...

The echo was smashing down the hill in the left hand lane tailgating another car and quickly ducked into the right hand lane not even noticing there were a heap of cars in the lane and unfort my mate with the RS was at the back of the line and bang.. no more RS..

Yeah the engine and everything wasnt too bad.. dunno about the rear diff, but it def needed a new exhaust :-)
