What the hell are these holes doing?

ok, i have some holes which i have no idea what used to be there and wondered if anyone knows what would normally go there.



there is a hole on the side of the steering column with a circle scratch mark around the hole. there is a smaller hole just next to it.

there are also some holes in the covers that are next to the HOLD AT on the right side, and on a cover near the rear demister button on the left hand side.

any yeah, just wondering what used to go there if anyone has any ideas. cheers

that last pic looks like a hole where teh little red flashy led light for your imobilizer would be.. maybe it has fallen out...?? maybe the other hole had somethin to do with one of those crappy imobilizer things.......maybe! lol

Put my money on hole in dash being for an alarm LED and hole in steering column for homemade kill switch on the nose....

I used to put holes in things like that if i had switches for different things in the car..

Like a kill switch for amps or for neon lights.. that sort of thing. And yeah a little hole would more than likely have been for an alarm led light.

hmmmm, so i have three ugly holes now.. damn.. any ideas or suggestions how to fill them up? does anyone have any of those clips that are next to my HOLD AT and rear defrost buttons. and if so how much would you sell them for?

Just put some switches back in there. $5 from jaycar should do the job. Worry about their functionality later.

Check out the wreckers to find the same parts in ur car that have holes, best way to fix a hole is to replace the part. Up to you if it bugs ya enough to want to get rid of the holes.. will cost for the parts.. up to u :-)

I'd lay money it has had an aftermarket cruise controll fitted, the cable comes out of the small hole & the stalk out of the bigger one, I've bought 2 Subi's that have had it fitted in the same spot, ugly big wobbly stalk, still got one if you want it, came off the g/f's MY99 WRX, the other was on my MY95 WRX.

You'll find WRX switches fit in the same holes, looks like the one on the left of your steering column might be a post 97 WRX switch, if not you can use them, look at the l/h side of my guages & the cruise switch is actually out of a MY98 WRX, it's my 5sec delay water spray switch, but they all fit the same.
