Hey all you JLS H8rs. Update here on GXTREME!!! He's been getting along pretty good, copping all the molestation he deserves like my own personal alter boy. New mods are listed below:
- Replaced the stock CD player with a tape deck.
- Put cigarette burns in the seats and interior trims.
- Put the stock wheels back on and smeared faeces on the wheel nuts.
- Took the steering wheel off and left it in a tanning booth for 4 days so it went all faded and crusty.
- Wanked and smeared my own semen over all the controls.
- Removed springs inside the driver's seat and installed a giant black, 4" thick dildo with aids infected blood on it and lift charges underneath. If some dirty thieving c*nt (DTC) tries to steal my car, a trigger causes the lift charges to explode and the DTC is instantly and brutally raped in the anus. But not brutally enough for instant death because the bad aids wil get them.
- Taped razor blades (also infected with aids + cancer of the head) throughout the ignition wiring under the steering column.
- Compiled the a complete collection of centrelink pamphlets and arranged them in a convenient display throughout the cabin so that any DTCs may get distracted by another new payment they can claim for and leave my car the f*ck alone.

Hey, I'm just happy I stuck with my GX 4 speed auto because autos are nice and stuff. I'd put a 2.5 in but I don't want to adversly affect my economy, the more money I save on fuel, the more money I have to spend on collecting mint condition action figurines and playing world of warcraft.

Your car sucks more than you do.
Get a job so you can get some decent modifications that you keep blabbering about instead of this stop-gap bullshit. You need to stop trying to run your car on the dregs of Jim Beam & Coke pre-mixers & stale goon that you steal from the Terrigal beer garden.
And I know I'm a JLS h8r. When are we going to do sick max doughies in the gravel at Gosford station? How's your Zinger?

Nice improvements Chris. Maybe the fender brace should have say 20mm returns folded along the edges to give some lateral stiffness as well? Or make them from channel?
Rallyeee
7th December 2008, 03:29 AM
Doesn't need to provide any ridgidity other than in tension, plus a little in compression to avoid buckling but the thickness of the alloy covers that. Braces are only really capable of adding significant stiffness in the axial direction if you get me.. before I try and fail at explaining I think I'll just link you to a guy on nasioc that explains it much better than I can, post #28:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1188538&highlight=fender+brace+engineer&page=2
I might take a pic of the engine bay, pretty boring though, I try and hide most bits I put on. Plus it still has the crappy old un-economical combustion engine, getting very sick of seeing it there, might buy a prius.

That thread's a good read Chris. That aircraft engineer explains it pretty well. I agree that the brace will never stop the rails moving laterally, it will simply act through the bolt centreline on the pillars as he says. I just like to see flat braces with some rigidity by some returns, or as per the OE brace with a 'Ridge'.
Really I reckon anyone who thinks those tubular aftermarket braces will make the car handle any different is dreaming. I lol'd at those guys who did one side only and reckoned the car turned better one way than the other. Placebo effect I'm certain. I reckon the alloy design you have is on the money though, purely from a weight saving perspective, and simple, effective design.

You're so cheap... get a job.
I would have been very very very very interested to see some graphs making a comparo between pre-knife-edged TB, fancy new up-pipe... ported TUBRO BRO. You say you have seat-of-the-pants dyno telling you good things... but placebo effect much?? Although, you tend to do good things.
You inspire me, Chris... a wee-lad with a history of drug abuse and child molestation... and now you've grown up to be a respectable... well... you're doing good things to your car and that's good.
You contemplating TMIC or FMIC for replacing the W2A unit?
Rallyeee
7th December 2008, 11:32 PM
Doug, I think in terms of buckling stiffness it'd be similar to the stock brace. The stock brace has the ridge which helps a lot but it's only ~1.6mm steel. The alloy brace is 6mm thick. I would be very very surprised if it buckled considering the force due to cornering or braking (or basically anything you do) puts the brace in tension not compression. It's really just there to stop that 90 degree angle opening up from the strut pushing up on the strut tower.
JLS: I have a job, actually I have two diiir brain. Get a.. get.... get a.... less stupid face!
Dogs have tits.

My ugly whore of a car got broken into last week along with a whole mess of other cars nearby. Little c*nts...
Anyway, here's what I was doing when I wasn't having to fix damage caused by lowies:
- stabbing orphans
Then I did a retune and a wheel alignment to a van down the road and then I stabbed an orphan.

It's good that this car is actually getting... umm... good. It looks pretty hot now and despite your best efforts you can see it is thoroughly modified from the outside now, but there is just something seriously wrong with it (like a kid with Down Syndrome in a muscle shirt or some sh*t). If you ever washed it it might go faster, too (blow the rust out and get rid of the 11ty kg of dirt).
I have teh nerds at work hax0ring a solution to your problem with tube crossmembers, too. And what I mean by that is - they're attempting to un-corrupt the corrupted file I have. How it was corrupted I don't know, but I suspect it has something to do with Benski, a wire brush and a bag of lollies.
PS: Your car is built on the broken dreams of a thousand AIDS-infected ladyboys. I hope it burns when you pee.

You are correct, it's packin the mad-tite JDM performance look now. Since it arouses you so much I organised a new photo shoot. I hunted around for days for the perfect location and eventually decided on the front part of the driveway, next to the caravan. It took a while to get such a great shot but it was worth it, P.I.M.P:

I don't think he was having a go mate, just pointing out that the info was just a little left field but anyway, you are correct, it is a "Starcraft". I felt this particular model would compliment my car for the photo shoot better than any other so my dad made some calls and worked his magic and what a result! My dad's been in the business of messing with vans and motorhomes and stuff for 30+ years.
Thanks mouse :) .
Iain, the coilovers are silly, I used them to stab through an orphan and then I ate pie.

On the contrary... my wife has said my life has just begun... my life of model train building and wearing my pants too high. I don't think I'm gonna make it, I've had a last minute trip planned to San Francisco.
