pretty sure that the gc8 cluster transfers directly accross, but cannot confirm this. thanks, Ben.

Yeh nice idea. I'm also interested in doing the same with a V2 sti ra gauge cluster into 92 RS. Anyone done this? Still only the analogue display (no digital).

The main motivation for it is the DCCD display... but i guess the standard gauge cluster plug won't have the wires for the DCCD readout. Maybe i should have asked Al first? Al?

You would have to convert from cable to electronic speedo transducer at least, probably heaps of other mind bending electrics too. You would need someone very clever with patience and time, hard combo to find.

I just went down to the shed & checked my spare 99 guage cluster against a spare 97( both WRX ) & I'd say you would be pushing sh1t up hill trying to get the digital one to fit, they are physically totally different, the earlier V3 cluster is a very similar shape to the Gen 2 but the later digital one is the total reverse, it's fluted out at the bottom instead of the top, mounts totally differently & the 3 plugs actually go into the top of the cluster instead of going in from behind, it would fit better height & width wise but that's about all, it would be an absolute nightmare to do.

D_Gen, didn't you put the V3 cluster into your lib? I remember reading something about that somewhere on here.

I thought it would be a bit inpractical to swap all the wiring over but i'll still mention it to Al (little baby tiny infant jesus haha)...

Rubbish.

Just get a GTB cluster Ben, straight fit, 9k tacho, 7800 redline, what else could you want.

Getting a WRX cluster to work is no biggy, getting it to fit and not look ridiculous is the hard part.

Sparta, not having a go at you here, but if you researched a little and found out a bit about Al, you would know why he is respected on here and hence what he says is viewed more differently than if some n00b had come along and said the same thing. Al's post was not escalating into an argument, more just all that was required so that people wouldn't have the notion that it *might* still be possible.

(edit, the above has been rephrased by 91rs below, in a slightly more direct and incomplicated way)

Back on topic, Ben one of the kiwi's recently posted up how he had shoehorned some WRX guages into his std RS cluster - the white speedo/rev dials looked good, but the fuel and temp guages didn't... if anything you could do that to be different, but just leave the fuel and temp guages alone.

Still a lot of fcking around tho! Best doing what Al said...

Sparta F#$K OFF AND DONT COME BACK >>>FTW :tu

you cant be seriously telling AL to chill out ? he is one of the most chilled people on here and always speaks words of wisdom ...

but if you actually read half of the posts on this forum you would understand that he is very helpful, always right & its a shame there arent more on this forum like him ..

YOUR A TOOL YES THIS IS DIRECTED AT YOU ...

How different is Gen 3 Liberty dash architecture to Gen 2? I have pics of a Gen 3 that's copped a MY05 STi cluster and console, but it also had a custom skin put over the top. Extreme measures for such minute benefit.

Extreme measures for such minute benefit.

This is really the bottom line.
All Ben really needs is a tacho that goes to 8K. His current tacho only goes to 7k so it leaves you a little blind from 7 to the ~8400 redline.

MY99 clusters are also problematic and very expensive as a result.

Lol @ Sparta.

Here's mine AGAIN, yeah you'd be much better off getting the GTB cluster & sticking it straight in, the auto sparky who did my conversion took both clusters home & just re pinned the plugs, I think the Libbo has 3 & the STI has two, only thing that doesn't work is the globe in the l/h indicator but cos it's such a pig to get in & out because of the speedo cable I've left it like that.

Oh the troops have come in, just as I expected. I wasn't by any means wanting to be rude to him, I have learnt alot from his posts, and I thank him for that. But still the comment 93tzlegacy posted was right and didnt require a response of that nature from Al.

Back on topic.......d_generate, that looks tops mate.

How much are you usually looking at for a wrx cluster by itself? Or GTB for that matter?
I only ask because you can get these

For a Gen 3 for $750 ish plus postage so thought you might be able to find something like it for a Gen 2 -shrug-

What other options do i have to display the DCCD setting apart from the dash then Al? Is a GC8 cluster easier to fit physically (looks wise) to a RS lib?

D_Gen, that does look tops. Is there a blank black gap between the gauge cluster and dash surround or are my eyes playing tricks?

hahaha.
10 points for that comment

I would suggest using the auto trans indicator lights for the DCCD. Might be a bit hard with an RS cluster though. A simple row of LEDs would suffice.

ok so GTB cluster it is! now where do I find one of those and for how much? haha! Al did u check your email today? I left a few pics for u!

scooby85 you can get white EL dials for gen 2. im thinking about getting some and it would make it more worth while of you get some with me, they will be coming from japan, but the tacho still only goes to what yours does, would that be a problem?

anyway PM if you interested and i will show you some pics, they look really professional, they arent that cheap but you get what you pay for. i thinki they are EL too which means the look cool at night, ill see if i can find soem for a gtb cluster that might be a better way to go about it cos i need a higher reading tacho aswell.

sparta, what is your problem?? please grow up and worry about yourself and not others, just because you have been warned time and time again because of the 'rubbish' you post doesnt mean you can warn others. als post was in no way in approriate, stop trying to be a moderator.

There is no gap but I had to cut a piece of laminex & use it as a filler along the top of the gauges as the STI ones are about 1cm lower, I just hit it with a black marker & criss crossed it to look similar to the face markings.

No he won't; look at his other posts.

He and a bunch of his pimply faced mates have decided to troll RSLC. Badly.
