i need to change the mufflers on my car, at the moment i have twin 3inch cannons and they are way way too loud... whats the best type of muffler to go for, i obviously want to keep the boxer noise, but want to get the car back to legal, but not lose any power... now sure i only drive a N/A but id like to get the best out of it... so any suggestions

on my n/a gen 1 i had a 2.25" hotdog welded onto the factory pipe near the diff and dual 2.5" chrome tip. sounded good (for a n/a) and looked decent.

cost about $180 from memory from a local exhaust shop.

don't spend a fortune on exhausts for a n/a car mate, you achieve nothing but an annoying droney sound and an empty wallet with bugger all performance gains.

as for losing power............you wouldn't have gained anything by having fitted dual 3" canons so power difference will be negligable.dual 3" is massive overkill for a n/a 2.2l.

I,ve got a standard headers ,cat,2.25" to a largish resonator then one of those cheap 2.5" cannon with a 4" tip on a ej22,ain't in a lib.Gets a few comments on how good it sounds .
