well, seeing as i've been mooching around on these forums for quite some time now - i thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself, and ofcourse my car.

my name's taylor, currently 18 years of age - this is the second car i've owned after having driven a 2001 Forester Limited (which essentially wasn't completely and utterly mine, as it was handed down to me from the parents) for a good year. i'm currently pursuing a career as a pilot, however, due to the excessive fundage involved with initiating this particular career path, i'm probably going to pursue an apprenticeship of some description, but still discontent with exactly what i want to do.

on a more important note, i've had the car for almost 6 months now. she certainly isn't cosmetically perfect, but for the mere $3k i payed i think i got a relatively good deal. originally, the car was barely driving. to start with, 1st gear had been completely stripped of all it's teeth due to the very apparent hard life that the car had before me with it's previous owner (whom is notoriously well known for his lack of mechanical sympathy) - which meant that i had to baby it, and avoid using 1st gear upon picking it up those few months ago.

the car was still driving, however, 13psi of boost got the better of me, and the gearbox decided to go pop whilst cruising down the coast one day, which rendered the car completely undriveable. following this - it was off to doug to source a new gearbox. the FIRST gearbox i managed to scrape up was an older 1991 4.11 legacy donk, which, sadly, was fitted by myself with some help of an apprentice mechanic - whom either of which had little expertise in the area of gearbox fitment. we managed to fit the box okay, however, had some problems with the clutch - as it came to my attention come this box blowing 3 weeks later, that we had indeed bent the clutch plate, as well as it being very evident that an earlier generation gearbox couldn't simply cope with a motor generating just shy of 200awkw.

after a few weeks of waiting (and thanks to doug's help and expertise yet again), he was able to scrape up a gc8 4.11 box for me - which was then fitted. since - i've had no troubles with the car, apart from some oil leaks (specifically from the rocker cover gaskets, which have since been replaced), and now a rooted steering rack which is infact getting replaced this week. last week the car was also treated to new bendix ultimates all around. currently, this is how the car is - and i've got a heap planned for it in the near future.

Specs
1991 Subaru Liberty Heritage (g1s1 lovin'), which means full electrics/sunroof/leather interior. 220awhp @ 13psi.

Engine
EJ20H from a JDM 1997 GT-B. currently has ~70,xxxkms
TD05-16G @ 13psi (no blow off valve = :D)
3" TBE flowing through to oval muffler with 2.5" tip
FMIC with Custom Piping
Bosch Fuel Pump
Turbosmart Mechanical Boost Controller @ 13psi
Stock ECU - nice and rich!

Gearbox/Driveline
JDM GC8 4.11 5-speed
'97 GC8 driveshafts/propshafts/rear 4.11 diff
Mystery clutch which doug whipped up for me, after the first one when I had the second gearbox fitted was down to the rivets. lovely. Relatively sure it's heavy duty, but we didn't really confirm that.

Handling/Suspension
'97 GC8 Struts lowered on Kings Springs
'02 17x7 STi Rims wrapped in 205/40 Federal 595's
STi Strut Brace
'97 GC8 hubs + rotors up front, stock heritage discs down back
'97 GC8 4pots up front, stock calipers on rear.
Bendix Ultimates all around

Stereo/Interior
Eclipse Headunit
500W JBL monoblock amp
MB Quartz Splits in the back
MB Quartz 6" up the front
Momo Steeringwheel + Chinaspec boost gauge

Plans
Rims are being wrapped in 225/45 Sumitomo rubber next week
Replace steering rack
Replace passenger-side rocker cover gasket
Repair the seals on my Cusco coilovers, and fit accordingly
Replace front seats.
OMP steering wheel
Windows Retinted
Respray in good time - either the existing colour or gunmetal grey.
Possibly looking at a PowerFC or equivalent in the near future. The Stock ECU and it's according AFR at the moment is rather rich, so it could easily see a few more pounds without running the risk of detonation. We'll just see how it goes.

Here's some photos from when I first got the car:

Welcome to the forums Taylor! Hopefully you have more luck with the car than its previous owner did! If you're anything like me, owning a car like this will mean you continue to suffer from "fundage" issues but it's a hell of a lot of fun! :P

i've been meaning to fix the cosmetics, but miniscule mechanical problems keep popping up, which continue to leech ke$h from my bank account. thankfully and fortunately, i withhold a degree of mechanical sympathy so she should definately last the distance. although i'll definately be getting down to the plex when i've got new rubber on all four corners, for which in due time will come 5k rpm dumps, inevitably ending in the 5speed going dak dak bang.

unfortunately i've been away for the last few cruises/meetups. come the next couple - i'll more than certainly be there. perth is definately in need of more g1s1 lovin'

ofcourse I know TJ, seeing as it was his car

he gave up after he blew the box - this car is quite well known in and amongst the antilag boys.

pfft, 6 speed. i've already got copious and perhaps obnoxious amounts of turbo flutter, just need a PPG box with the according whine for extra wank factor!

but fortunately, i don't give her much of a hard time, so the gc8 box should last :tu

bit more porn for you guys after i washed it today.

also added a catch can and fully silicone CAI thanks to mister two! has a wicked induction note now, and drops some even siiiiiiiicker doses! also fitted a blue LED dashlight kit, as to match my headunit and boost gauge - as well as a 350x90mm OMP steering wheel. looks the goods and feels awesome to drive with. some legacy electric rail seats also got fitted, which are virtually brand spankin' new.

cusco coil-overs (well, the rears atleast - if anyone's got any for the front let me know) are going in this week, as well as the replacement steering rack courtesy of doug. she's also getting treated to an oil swap on friday - as the lifters are getting a touch on the noisy side.

anyway, without further adieu:
