well, seeing as i've been mooching around on these forums for quite some time now - i thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself, and ofcourse my car.
my name's taylor, currently 18 years of age - this is the second car i've owned after having driven a 2001 Forester Limited (which essentially wasn't completely and utterly mine, as it was handed down to me from the parents) for a good year. i'm currently pursuing a career as a pilot, however, due to the excessive fundage involved with initiating this particular career path, i'm probably going to pursue an apprenticeship of some description, but still discontent with exactly what i want to do.
on a more important note, i've had the car for almost 6 months now. she certainly isn't cosmetically perfect, but for the mere $3k i payed i think i got a relatively good deal. originally, the car was barely driving. to start with, 1st gear had been completely stripped of all it's teeth due to the very apparent hard life that the car had before me with it's previous owner (whom is notoriously well known for his lack of mechanical sympathy) - which meant that i had to baby it, and avoid using 1st gear upon picking it up those few months ago.
the car was still driving, however, 13psi of boost got the better of me, and the gearbox decided to go pop whilst cruising down the coast one day, which rendered the car completely undriveable. following this - it was off to doug to source a new gearbox. the FIRST gearbox i managed to scrape up was an older 1991 4.11 legacy donk, which, sadly, was fitted by myself with some help of an apprentice mechanic - whom either of which had little expertise in the area of gearbox fitment. we managed to fit the box okay, however, had some problems with the clutch - as it came to my attention come this box blowing 3 weeks later, that we had indeed bent the clutch plate, as well as it being very evident that an earlier generation gearbox couldn't simply cope with a motor generating just shy of 200awkw.
after a few weeks of waiting (and thanks to doug's help and expertise yet again), he was able to scrape up a gc8 4.11 box for me - which was then fitted. since - i've had no troubles with the car, apart from some oil leaks (specifically from the rocker cover gaskets, which have since been replaced), and now a rooted steering rack which is infact getting replaced this week. last week the car was also treated to new bendix ultimates all around. currently, this is how the car is - and i've got a heap planned for it in the near future.

Replace steering rack
Replace passenger-side rocker cover gasket
Repair the seals on my Cusco coilovers, and fit accordingly
Replace front seats.
OMP steering wheel
Windows Retinted
Respray in good time - either the existing colour or gunmetal grey.
Possibly looking at a PowerFC or equivalent in the near future. The Stock ECU and it's according AFR at the moment is rather rich, so it could easily see a few more pounds without running the risk of detonation. We'll just see how it goes.
Here's some photos from when I first got the car:

oh, and excuse the contradictory statement in my signature - it was a typo, and i can't rectify it due to me being unable to access my profile's control panel.
