Hi all, I've recently moved back to OZ from NZ and Japan and come down to try Tassie out for a while.

My first Suby was a 91 Legacy GT non-turbo. I've just bought a cheap 92 LX auto for me mrs and looking to fixing it up a bit. Helped my brother get a nice 92 GX and also just got a 92 GX turbo that seems pretty sweet so far, except interior is pretty dirty.. haha

We know basically nothing about cars, except that I've driven a lot of shitty old cars in my time and my first 91 Suby was so awesome that I fell in love with Subaru.

I've rebuilt a shitty old Mitsubishi colt with my dad and learned a bit from that, but expect a lot of stupid questions as I really want to learn enough to build my own 92 turbo in the near future. So please keep patient with me!

Thanks :P

Would be useful if you could be specific about which part of Tassie you are now calling home.

Hey mate, Sounds like you have had a fair bit of a collection!

The suby's are so cheap in N.Z!

Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm up Launceston end. Once I get the Suby in a bit better shape I'm going to go on a little tour of Tassie, I can't wait!
Oh while I'm talking to some Tasmanians, any good wreckers you guys can recommend?

cheers

Not many up North carry much in the way of Subaru spares. The ones that do tend to keep newer stuff. Luckily a lot of the stuff is interchangeable.

First one that springs to mind is Churchill Park, Click Me (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=invermay+tas&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=61.370254,114.169922&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Invermay+Tasmania&ll=-41.417699,147.143137&spn=0.000809,0.001742&t=h&z=20&iwloc=lyrftr:h,11763434426791145776,-41.417613,147.143186&layer=c&cbll=-41.417794,147.143518&panoid=o8OsUOfBADJIr1Yg1_2IQA&cbp=12,288.33,,0,5)

cheers, thanks for that, I didn't know about them. I went to Central Wholesale Wreckers and picked up a rear quarter window for $45, (even though he quoted on the ph $40, GST maybe? haha) does that price sound about right? He want's to charge me $90 for a rear spoiler too.

I've never bought any of those items but I've pretty much just gone down there had a poke around picked out what I wanted. You have to haggle on the prices though, most of them will do it. You need to do the old look surprised and say something like "woah, wasn't planning to spend that much, is that the best you can do, c'mon it's only a (whatever it is you're buying)...."

lol I did that about the spoiler, I said nah that's too much, maybe not today. And he said ok, see you later.... but I think it may be because it was just on closing time and he couldn't be bothered. I'm after a few other things too, like the boot knob as it's missing, maybe a front seat as mine has a big ass tear in it... I'd love to convert it from an auto to a manual, but I think I'll save my money and buy a GX a bit later...

Hi Mr Milkman, welcome to the club.

Interesting choice of names!

How does Tassie appeal to you after spending time in NZ and Japan? I'm thinking Tassie wouldn't be a bad spot to call home for a bit. I'd imagine a bit warmer than Japan in the winter, and cooler in the summer, right? I'm in Nagano city, so it's winter for 1/2 the year. Great for playing in the snow but it can be a drag waiting to get back on the bike.

Anyways, good luck with your project.

Hi rsfever, glad u find my name interesting. I got it from some Chinese friends when I was in uni...
I love Tassie, it's beautiful country down here, reminds me a bit of NZ. I grow attached to places, I miss NZ a lot, and I always miss Japan. I miss the girls and the food and the alcohol... nomihodai!! haha an amazing concept ne?
I'm often back and forth between here and Japan. I was in Osaka and Gifu. My wife is Japanese, from Gifu. One day I'll do a tour of Japan in a Suby. Actually my brother and I are planning on doing a tour across Japan on a bike in the not too distant future. You're spot on about the weather. I haven't made it to Nagano yet, but will go snowboarding there one day.

Anyways, thanks for support and msg, nice metting you, maybe I'll run into you sometime in Japan. I randomly ran into an old uni lecturer in Kyoto at 2am one night, haha. :)
