Having a fast FWD is like coming out of the closet. Sure you will surprise some people but in the end, everyone knows you're gay.

    oh hai

Joined in 2004. Bought the redsled shortly after in 2005 after cracking the shits looking for a decent RS for a year.

1997 GTB. Let's not go there. (dead)
1993 Daihatsu Charade. Daily. 650km to a tank whilst enduring mechanical rape.(gone)
1984 Toyota Corona. Daily after the Charade got written off. 2.4L headgasket blowing tractor motor with IRS. Bittersweet.(gone)
1990 Toyota Landcruiser Troopcarrier. 4.2L TD. All the fruit. Sold to brother-in-law. Stolen shortly after.(gooooooone)
    2003 Holden Astra. Daily.(gone)
2010 Subaru Impreza WRX. Ugh. Yuck. Ugh. Yuck.(sent for a six)

2012 Land Rover Discovery 4 2.7TD (avoided the TT 3.0 for fear of catching teh AIDS again). (currently wife's car)
    1999 Subaru Liberty. EZ30D + 5speed conversion. GTB E-Tune II/GT30 spec. BC's & TE37s. (current)
    2012 Suzuki DRZ-400E (current)

A bit latecoming with the whole "gearbox swaps like they're a consumable" thing, my non-existent disposable #YOLO income and wife don't quite agree with the whole concept. Never had that issue with the old Redsled, but it's a pain in the ass with this car. Hopefully I'll resolve this soon (without a divorce)

First one I had that made me join the club was a MY92 (Gen 1 S2) GX Liberty, which I subsequently did a EJ20T + 6 spd conversion on, then:
    - MY91 (Gen 1 S1) GX Liberty with EJ25T + 6spd conversion
    - MY00 (Gen 3) RX Liberty with EJ25T + 6spd conversion
    - MY99 GF8 Impreza Sportswagon with EJ25T + 6spd conversion

The first one a friend crashed, second one a truck changed lanes into me, third one I just hated cos with all the suspension mods in the world it still handled like a limo and the 4th I still own.

Interesting and pretty cool to see that everyone seems to have stuck with some form of performance/modded Suby, may not be the daily but still in the stable.

I cant remember when i joined... but i have just got back on in the last few days as i'm looking at my midlife crisis and looking to buy another RS.

From my RS conversion that i loving built with the good old RSLC tassie crew. After the engine blew and i had my tantrum and thought F88K this shit!!!!(regrettably) I moved to an 2007 XR6 Ute, then an XG Ford ute, a 2010 WRX and now i drive a 08 D22 navara which i enjoy the camping and 4wding side. Its nice to get out to remote locations to see the country we live in.... but alas the petrol head in me wants a new toy/project. so hopefully i will be spending a bit more time back on here.... and reviving the forum, not that faceshit page!

    Have both mate,

Forester Turbo, tuned but still goes to most places.
Apart from door sill clearance, they're further off the ground than most 4x4's that are dragging solid axles

Or Gen2 + H6, Tyres and lift kit

    No doubt it will,
    But does it NEED to..?

    In my case, No.
As long as it'll handle Forestry, National Park and Highland Lake roads comfortably and a few beach trips, that's all I need,
The extra clearance and grip helps getting into camp-sites in those areas that a lower car wouldn't.

But I see the attraction of a "Go places" and a "go fast" car
    hence the GTi purchase

Joined 2003 when I bought my first Subaru Gen 1 Series 2 Legacy GT Wagon (1992). Bought it in VIC stock as a rock and drove back to Brisbane. Transformed it over 10 years. Still own it.
I now drive a Gen 4 Liberty GTB Wagon MY07 6spd and have done for 3-4 years. Same deal bough in VIC stock as a rock and drove back to Brisbane. Sensible mods and less tinkering.
Very different to drive - both awesome. Gen1 feels more like a race car, better road and throttle feel. Auto = lazy and fun power.

Wow, interesting to see there's still a few people who have hung onto their RS, and lots of Subies still.

I joined years ago with an account I can't even remember the name of. Since my RS I've had a WRX, B4 and Tuned by STi Lib that I sold recently since we didn't really need two cars and I wanted a change. Still have my wife's 2014 XT Forester which I drive. Currently thinking about something new for myself as I'll need another car soon when my wife goes back to work after having kids. I'd get a Levorg if they did a manual, but a base model WRX might do.

Also pondering the merits of restoring an RS wagon or MY94-00 WRX as a weekender but now I'm old(er) and sensible(r) and worry about missing things like airbags... Hoping the RS and 'classic' WRXs have moved past their 'fully sik' stage of life and there will be a few nice ones getting around the place, which I wouldn't mind adding to.

Great to see a few are still around.

Bought my Lib in 2001 in Newcastle very close to stock.

    http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums/...Auto-biography

    Joined...

<--- soon after George and Jake started the forum after the first Yahoo mailing list meet in Melbourne.

Still have the Lib. Now pretty heavily modified and was retired many years ago (2011).

Bought another RS, rust in the rear window/boot and no interior, worked out repair cost... wrecked that.
... didn't learn and bought another which is currently dead.

My wife drives a 12 Skoda Octavia RS DSG wagon. Kid spec'ed with 4 point harnesses in the back, lowered, wheels, tint, blacked out trim.

The latest moment of insanity is a 91 NG Pajero V6 (I just couldn't do diesel). Bought late last year. The plan was something "cheap" to take the kids onto the beach and test out 4wheeling. Removed the ugly bull bar, fixed the sunroof, bought some 2nd hand jap wheels, fitted a turbo diesel scoop bonnet to confuse people, tint, 3rd hand TJM rack. Found the axle was cracked so found a cheap replacement axle but thought I'd upgrade the brakes at the same time. Should have known better. Turning into an ordeal.

Replaces the soon to be sold 02 Clio Renault Sport which was the daily. Tint and exhaust.

Also have a 07 Audi RS4 which I bought while the Lib was off the road for how many years. Exhaust, wheels, black out pack, lip spoiler, roof spoiler. Nice to drive, sounds good but a bit slow so could do with more oomph. A supercharger would be nice.

    Nice idea!

When i joined i had my white sedan (which I still have), looking like this when i bought it bone stock:

Now i looks like this, running a drivetrain (excluding engine) from a 2006 STI
(not using it in the winter because of salt, was the best pic I had available)

Got a 1994 Legacy Turbo wagon too, running Tein SS coils and a Vos-chip:

My daily is a 2006 Outback 3.0R tuned by XRT:

An finally, my G1S1 Legacy Turbo RS rally car, runnig a Samsonas dog box and Link G4 tuned on 98 RON with a Holset HX30W with 34 mm restrictor

Some people say I have too many gen 1 Legacys but i don't need that negativity in my life
Hehe, seriously, I love the cars, wont sell any of them if i'm not forced too!

Joined 2005 with a Dark Metallic Grey (or charcoal if you prefer) RS wagon.
Still have a DMG RS wagon but its a different one and is sitting unregistered under a layer of dust in my carport
Had 3 Gen 3 Outbacks, a Gen 2 Outback, a Gen 2 GT wagon in between the RS's
Also have the Brumby shell that I am still working on but progress is slower than glacial movement.

Daily drivers now are a Ford Mondeo diesel wagon and a BMW 120d.

When I originally joined, back in 2005 or 2006 I believe, I was rocking a stock L series subaru wagon with the wish of an EJ turbo conversion. I've still got that one, but now rocking an EJ22, custom AWD box with centre diff lock built for offroading purposes, 3 inch lift and 27 inch tyres.

I got my first RS about 3 years ago as a project to do up on the side of other projects. After that I got another one to daily, both wagons. The issue is the engine build, ironically the project RS is fully operational and the daily is not

I've also got a targa brumby, my mother inlaw drives a targa brumby and at the end of last year I got my sister out of the L series and into an RX Gen3 wagon - and threw a set of UELs on it, best thing I did

Been a good ride with the subarus. Can't wait to be cruising in the RS!

    Cheers

    Bennie
